Re: Shore pike and bass pond
Yea it should still be possible to fish through the weeds, but at that point you may be punching baits through all the grass with some heavy weights. It'd work for bass (tourney anglers do punch really thick mats in places like Florida with great success), not entirely sure about pike but I feel lik...

Re: Shore pike and bass pond
I'd probably fish weedless frogs if the weeds are heavy especially in the warmer months (May through October). Some of the more "oddball" designs such as prop frogs (e.g. Lunkerhunt Propfish Sunfish) and bladed frogs (e.g. Teckel QLinker) would be good picks as well to differentiate what other angle...

Re: Small hairjigs for largemouth
They should work just as well as with smallmouth, especially if there is not a lot of cover, early spring would likely be a great time for them when the weeds are down. In April of last year I caught a couple incidental 3ish pound largemouth on a 1/8oz "hair" jig (mostly marabou but some bucktail an...

But, I don't recommend it myself.
I wouldn't recommend it either

Re: New lures in your box 2021
I've already bought one of the new Rapala OG Slim cranks to try for bass this summer, as well as the new smaller sized Super Shadow Rap, which should work really nice this spring for pike. Might eventually pick up a Duo Realis Microdon 88 and/or a Spearhead Ryuki Quattro, or maybe even a Gan Craft J...

Re: New SLX BFS is coming
With a magnetic braking system and audible drag... :-k Doesn't the Scorpion BFS have a magnetic brake system. All the Shimano BFS reels have the magnetic brake system (and the clicking drag), it was Shimano's way of reducing spool weight to get the spool light enough to cast light baits a long ways

Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?
All time favourite memory is fishing dead calm evenings on Opeongo and ripping a Skitter Prop much like you would for Peacock Bass, and the Smallies just absolutely crushing it

Re: Ice Fishing
Jigging spoons are my favourite, I usually use a 1" Williams Wabler and tip it with a Gulp Waxie, catches basically everything. Small Swedish Pimples are good too, one of my biggest bass ever came on a 1" yellow ice Pimple (that same day I also got one of my biggest gills ever plus a muskie)

Re: Duo Realis Spin
I've used it pretty successfully. Conditions have to be right though. If you see fish schooling, it's one of the best baits to throw IMO, can be better than a soft swimbait. I agree. I had a chance to fish the size 11 for a bit this past week, ended up catching a small smallie and lost a slightly l...

Re: Duo Realis Nomase Gill
Figured I had to eventually get a reply from someone other than myself  While the bait overall is intended to be fished like a blade bait, there is a video that shows one of the pro staff dropshotting it, I've started it at the rigging section though (do mind this is entirely in Japanese and I ...

Re: Duo Realis Nomase Gill
One more update: In the newest Duo catalog, the Nomase Gill is in it, with a release in August of this year. However, these were released in Japan in November, and I have my hands on a couple that I got from eBay. I intend on fishing them for bass and walleye once things warm up, and the seasons all...

Re: Duo Realis Nomase Gill
Just as an update for anybody interested, here are the colors it will be released in (in Japan anyways, no idea what colors may be available here): https://backlashjapan.co/2018/09/05/duo-nomase-gill/ I personally like the bluegill/sunfish colors, but of course all the local waterbodies here are ver...

Duo Realis Nomase Gill
While perusing Facebook yesterday, I came across a post from Duo which piqued my interest. There was a video of a new bait coming out that night, and after constantly checking YouTube all of yesterday and a bit of this morning, the video was posted. https://youtu.be/mDHfiDnHGIk And with further sear...

Re: Favorite paddletails?
Big Bite Baits 4" Swimming Jerk Minnows work nicely, I've caught smallies, largies, pike, drum, and lake trout (the only two I've ever caught ice fishing) on them either on a jighead or as a chatterbait trailer (more for largies and pike).

Re: Crank It Up: Megabass Eccentric X-Dad Crankbait
I'm pretty sure the antenna material is peacock herl in case you ever wanted to fix broken/missing antennae (assuming it can be fixed). It's a good looking crank regardless
