Re: "The Hookup Tackle" and my IMX SJR 844
I ended up buying a GLX sample from them that was gouged pretty badly in one spot and they paid to return it no problem. No worries with them over there, just wish the reps would take better care of their stuff..

Re: IMX flipping stick feed back
I had the IMX in the telescopic and did not care for it much either It did not pitch well and I seemed to lose fish with it for some reason. I ended up trading mine in.

Re: 13 Fishing Omen
The blank on the 7'6" Omen I have has a slight set. It is noticeable but not as bad as on the latest NFC HM blank I purchased and about on par with the Cumara I received at the same time as the Omen. I know it is not bad enough to affect performance but it does drive me a little nuts too knowing it ...

Re: Blanks without coating exposed to UV rays?
I just doused all my uncoated blanks with SPF 70 with the exception of the spinnerbait rod that I use for night fishing. I think TT needs to perform some stability testing under controlled UV/Fluor conditions with coated and uncoated rods. Might be a little expensive to achieve a statistically relev...

No, not the Carbon Steel, they are fair at best. The Zbones are another story. Best thing about Kistler is you can often pick them up at a deep discount.

Re: Can anyone compare Omen to Croix Premier or better
I have an Omen Black and about 20 various St. Croix rods, premiere through the extremes. I would rate the Omen as on par with the LTB series in terms of performance.

Re: St. Croix 7' 3" Big Jig Rod ?
another rod that I was also looking at was their TBC73MHF which has an initial lure rating of 5/8 0z. which I like since I am not a fan of a rod that has a tip that will load up just with the weight of the jig hanging there, but I worried about the back bone. Since the range of the jig I would prob...

Re: St. Croix 7' 3" Big Jig Rod ?
I have the 7'3" MH in the LTB series and it fishes much more like a heavy action. The tip is not flimsy, the rod loads up nice and evenly like you want for a heavy jig or carolina rig rod.

Re: Other uses for a drop shot rod?
+1 It's way too soft for much of anything else except maybe a light grub or hairjig on an open hook. A std. 6'6" - 7' medium power rod will be much better.

Re: G Loomis GL2
My local shop was going out of business and unloading these rods at 60% off and I still wasn't interested in any of them. They look nice, but when you pick one up, it's all over. No thanks.

Re: Over-wintering Batteries
There is no reason to pull your batteries. I leave mine in but I do disconnect them from the TM if it is going to be for the overwinter period here due to an incident I had several years ago.

Re: Why expensive tackle
My time on the water is very valuble to me and I am willing to do most anything to enhance the experience. Money spent on high end tackle is an investment and also provides a better value over the long term. The same reason that when I needed a boat 13 years ago, I went with a custom made high perf....

Re: Rod Powers Referendum 2013
To be honest, I have never paid much attention to any of those line or lure weight ratings that are stamped on a rod blank. All that matters to me is how the rod perfoms in the situation that I am using it for. I could be throwing a weightless worm over some pads on 80# line with a mag heavy flippin...

Re: 13 Fishing Casting Rod Power Ratings
The 7'6" med heavy that I have is spot on. I could care less about the warranty unless I owned a bunch of them and the entire product line was experiencing massive failures. If a guide breaks on any rod I own, I will simply replace it, not ship the rod back to the manufacturer. I would much rather p...
