I had the IMX in the telescopic and did not care for it much either It did not pitch well and I seemed to lose fish with it for some reason. I ended up trading mine in.

The blank on the 7'6" Omen I have has a slight set. It is noticeable but not as bad as on the latest NFC HM blank I purchased and about on par with the Cumara I received at the same time as the Omen. No, not the Carbon Steel, they are fair at best. The Zbones are another story. Best thing about Kistler is you can often pick them up at a deep discount.

I have an Omen Black and about 20 various St. Croix rods, premiere through the extremes. I would rate the Omen as on par with the LTB series in terms of performance.

I have the 7'3" MH in the LTB series and it fishes much more like a heavy action. The tip is not flimsy, the rod loads up nice and evenly like you want for a heavy jig or carolina rig rod.

+1 It's way too soft for much of anything else except maybe a light grub or hairjig on an open hook. A std. 6'6" - 7' medium power rod will be much better.

There is no reason to pull your batteries. I leave mine in but I do disconnect them from the TM if it is going to be for the overwinter period here due to an incident I had several years ago.
