Re: Best knot for Trilene Big Game

I use a Polomar knot and if I have an issue with that, though rare, I'll switch to a Miller Knot.

Re: Good braid

The Suffix 832 braid is a great all around braid. It's super strong thanks to an additional Gore fiber and the additional wraps per inch. It is supple and smooth yet still has the ability to cut through vegetation. The Daiwa Samuri braid is a good open water braid. It's very soft and smooth. It cast...

Re: Looking for a good flouro

I would go with the Seagur Abrazix or the Sunline Super.

Re: Best reel for $120

Broken record here... Citica. If you want something that is going to LAST, buy Shimano. I actually prefer the Citica over the Curado for many applications. The Curado comes in a 5:1 and a 7:1 gear ratio. Don't ask me why but they don't make it in a 6:1 or 6:3 or I'd buy em! I know everyone wants to ...

Re: What's up with lead in so much fishing tackle?

I'm pretty sure the lead warnings are for legalities. They have to warn you if it's in there to protect themselves. Unless you're chewing on split shots the amount of lead you come in contact with during fishing is nowhere near enough to harm you.

Re: Kevin VanDam Line and Lure Conditioner

I believe you can achieve the same results with any kind of silicone spray. I wonder if CAMP DRY or a similar product would work? Camp Dry is a silicone water proofing spray, not sure if that'd be ideal but I'm sure there's something similar. Camp dry is $6.00 for a huge can...

Re: BEST FROG TO USE?

I use the River2Sea Bully Wa 65. I throw black with yellow head and white with black stripes on the belly. I like the frog because it walks very well and the body collapses well for hook penetration. I have yet to try the Spro frog. I've heard a lot of good things about and plan on trying it this ye...

Re: 12lb co-poly or mono for Daiwa 2500 spinning

Any time I have to go to 10 pound and up on a spinning reel I usually go to braid with a leader. Seems like most lines over 8 pound just become a pain on spinning gear. Line twist, decreased casting, etc. etc. It's mostly the line twist I can't deal with. If you insist on sticking with a copoly/mono...

Re: Sunline Super Natural & Sunline Super Fluorocarbon Opin

I've used both over the last 2 months. The Super Natural Mono is very limp and casts like a dream. It has a very small diameter. You can use 20lb Super Natural where you'd normally use 15 of other brands. Conversely, you can use the same pound test you'd normally use for an application and the small...

Re: Which Line Type for Soft Body Swim Baits?

For hollow belly/paddletail or any of the lighter, 5 to 6" swimbaits, I use 15# P-line CXX. I've been experimenting lately with the Sunline Natural and you can go up in line size without the drawbacks of added line diameter. I'm not sure that the Sunline has the incredible abrasion resistance that t...

Re: Which Line Type for Soft Body Swim Baits?

Are we talking about Basstrix/Hollow Belly type baits or Osprey/Huddleston type baits? The line selection is completely different, at least for me, between these two types.

Re: Copolymer question

15 Copoly is a good all around size. I use 15 most of the time for traps. I'll use 12 Fluro if I'm fishing them deep and 17 or even 20 Copoly if I'm fishing very shallow grass beds.
