Re: Introducing the Cosugi works pixy...

What a great custom reel and backstory!

There is not another reel like it. Great to see it fully upgraded with the oval line guide upgrade.

The time and effort on the project was well-spent.

Re: Spool Bearing Remover Battle

I second the ReelSpeed pliers as being truly excellent, well-made tools for custom reel smiths. There is never a concern about scratching any spools or spool lips, and pins are pulled safely and securely in about 1-2 seconds. And yes, they are now very hard to find. Dawn at Smooth Drag recently got ...

Re: Introducing the Cosugi works pixy...

Wow! That's great work! And it took some good amount of planning. I have not seen this before. We have the spacers going down in diameters (all sizes and variations), and some of us have shaved frames to fit oval line guides on Alphas. But, but this is the first time I have seen such a frame modific...

Re: Phoenix Works Custom OG Zillion 1010

Bedazzler removal is pretty simple, just be careful not to scratch the bottom of the pits or the sides. You simply take a smallish size worm hook, an old dull one you don't care about anymore, one with a needle tip (not like Owners), straighten it up a little and use the tip to flick the little beda...

Re: Phoenix Works Custom OG Zillion 1010

Thanks for the feedback. I plan to use it for 1/4 oz jigs on Erie for big smallmouth. If I remember correctly the 1010 weighs about 15 g with bearing. It is not an "Air-light" spool by any means. The 50th drag star and tension knob are more silver than stock Zillion drag stars and tension knobs. I t...

Re: Phoenix Works Custom JDM Alphas Type F

Technically the TDZ line guide doesn't drop in. But, with some careful shaving of the frame (metal removal) it will.

I thought I saw some other souped up Alphas on here before also modified and able to fit the oval line guides. Now I cannot seem to find them.

Re: Phoenix Works Custom JDM Alphas Type F

Simply the matching color to maintain the minimal aesthetics. I may switch it over to the gold TDZ down the road.
