Powell Endurance rods
I have noticed minimal comments on the newer Endurance series from Powell. A few years ago everyone seemed to love the Powell line up. I think the original Endurance rods looked great with the raindrop effect, but the new ones are lighter and offer great value for the price. Has Powell been bypassed...

Which is the best overall
Comparing Loomis E6X rods to the new Powell endurance both casting and spinning. I find minimal reviews about the new endurance rods. The original rods had everyone talking. I have a number of Powell rods and have been happy with all. This new endurance series seems to offer a lot of bang for the bu...

Modifying my lure's bill
I purchased a shallow running balsa musky lure second hand. It was made by a small manufacturer who has been out of business for years. The lure comes back mostly straight, but it does not dive and runs on it's right side. I determined the bill had been glued in more to the left than straight. Tried...

Given similar rods would a KLX be more sensitive than the E6X?

Okuma guide series surf rod ?
Could this rod series be used for occasional surf casting , or would it tent to rust too quickly ?

Cut a sinker lengthwise with a hacksaw and crimp it on like a big split shot.

KLX vs Tatula
From the reviews I read it seems the tatula is perhaps more sensitive than an equivalent KLX. My KLX is one of the buzz/chatter rods and I am amazed at what I can feel with it. I am looking for a new rod for mostly texas rigged worms with 1/4 oz weights. Had planned to get an approx 7 ft KLX, but no...

Conquest parts and repair
Since finding Tackle Tour and drinking the koolaid, I have upgraded from the basic ABU classic reels to calcutta and luna quality. Happy as can be with both, but this being Tackle Tour that is not acceptable. Now I am ready to upgrade again. Years of reading convince me the conquest is the next step...

How to hold short screws
Seems real basic to reel assembly, but I seem to be wasting a lot of time trying to hold a screw in place while I start it with the screwdriver. What's your secret for holding a screw on the end of your screwdriver while you reach in to an inaccessible place to start the screw.

Re: I'm going backwards
Perhaps being pregeriatric I appreciate classic things. The reels are in the fishing category as muscle cars are to the automobile category. I could compare the reels to the 1957 Chevy.

Re: I'm going backwards
GREAT POST. I have two of the old reels. The 1300 came used from that auction place. It has probably never been opened and cleaned. I use it more than my newer stradic. Sort of like a long term marriage. Sure there's hotter / flashier stuff out there, but the old girl is just so comfortable and alwa...
