Re: What do the Japanese covet ?
Probably super niche, but from what I have seen, there is a fairly healthy market for vintage baits/balsa baits, think old heddons, bagleys, arbogast, Etc. I think some of the pros I have seen over there are wiggle wart collectors. I know the silly style guys out there are buying all the cherry vinta...

Re: Tsurinoya Rods and Reels
I have the pro flex II, and it is pretty awesome. Have caught trout up to 8 lbs and it handled it fine. It’s a solid tip rod with a ultra fine tip and a good amount of back bone. All the components are nice not sure they are genuine Fuji as advertised but for a bfs rod that’s under 100 it is great....

Re: Garlic-Scented Plastics -- Any Good?
Zipper worms have a ton of garlic oil as well. Haven’t done terrible on them, but also not amazing. Power team lures bite Juice also smells garlic based and I’ve caught plenty of fish with the Texas rig jig and the hammer shads. So my guess is it’s more about the bait than the scent. I just don’t li...

Re: Pre Rapala vs new "original wiggle warts"
I have not used any of my pre rapala warts, as they sit in a box. But I believe it also had to do with the plastic that they used having different buoyancy and a different sound as well, though the hunting action was the main deal. And the colors oh so many colors.Funny enough those brads wigglers a...

Re: Trout baits?
Not very new but, I have been sight fishing stocked trout with a either 1/16 or 1/32 tube jigs with a trout work trailer shaken between 6 inches to 4 feet beneath the surface, various colors.Very fun to see them track the tube and snatch it right by your feet.

Re: Trout fishing with soft plastics
Kinda sorta mentioned above, its essentially a jig head with a grub, but the Johnson beetle shad 1 or 2 inch on the back of a 1/32 or 1/16 minnow jig head, has been awesome for me in tight-ish quarter fishing for stocked trout. I usually skip it parallel to the bank and jig/short stroke it back. als...

Abu Revo gen 1 premier drag
Hey all, I've lost one too many fish due to the drag slipping on this reel. I am getting about 3 lbs of drag on full lock down at the reel likely + a few lbs at the rod tip. I have already checked the Belleville washers and they are arranged (). Anyone have experience dropping in an stx drag stack i...

Re: I've seen the light. low gear ratio for shallow cranks
I have a bantam curado in 3.8 that felt a bit too slow but I might give it a go one of these days. I have a mint Daiwa PT33C, which is a 3.8:1 that was fully tuned and polished by Ian...it still pulls 18.5" with a full spool per turn, it is very usable especially in cold water when slow rolling lot...

Re: I've seen the light. low gear ratio for shallow cranks
I crank exclusively with reels that are 5:1. for me it helps me feel the bait around cover better. kinda like moving slowly through a crowd rather than bumrushing through it. If I need more speed I turn the handle faster lol. I use the lucky craft mini magic and a curado e5 pretty much the jam for e...

These look promising.

I don't fish waters where this type of worm would be effective, but if I did I would be stitching this worm.

Re: Senko colors for murky water/low light
+1 for black with blue flake, I also like red flake for murky water. Depending on the water your fishing and the forage size, sometimes even upping the size from say a 4 to a 5 or 6 inch can help fish find it better.

Re: Mid-Low Spinning reel options
I will second that daiwa spinners, especially in the mid range tend to be a lot nicer. If you can shop one in your price range I would definitely look at the daiwa tierra/advantage. The tierras have performed excellently for me as a cross over from salt to fresh water. It has a waterproof-ish drag a...
