Re: J-Dream spool?

Resurrecting an older thread ....

I recently noticed the rotor position on both the J Dream and HLC spool appear to be similar. As such, would installing a stiff HLC spring on the J Dream spool result in the same/similar performance as the HLC spool?

That's strange, I never got your PM.
Is your inbox full?
No, my inbox is not full. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'll send you a PM to see if that works.

Re: Braid to Leader - what's your knot of choice?

I use a knot a friend showed me. It's a single uni with the fluoro and an Alberto with the braid. Tied this way, both tag ends exit the knot towards the reel rather than one of them facing away from the reel and potentially causing the knot to hang up on a guide. He doesn't have a name for it but h...

Hercules Braid

Does anyone have experience with this brand? There are many color options available from 4 strand to 12 strand including a fade-free line. In addition, the line apparently sinks. It all sounds too good to be true especially given the price(s). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. https://hercu...

Re: 2023 Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel

Thanks for the info, bronzefly. Any idea why the JDM models are not offered above the 2500 ?

The magseal feature requires, I think, sending the reel in to Daiwa if one were to want maintenance on that feature.
The ability to service the reel without having to send it to Daiwa is my primary reason for considering it.

2023 Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel

I checked both the domestic and JDM sites and neither specifies reel weights. Does anyone know if this info is available anywhere? I’m primarily a Daiwa guy, but I don’t own any Tatula reels, so I’m not sure I would like this reel. However, what intrigued me was this is not a magsealed reel. Another...

It uses a 3x10x4 but it's placed inside a housing. You'll need that housing. Brian.
Thanks for the confirmation.

Daiwa Zillion HLC Spool (36mm) bearing?

I'm planning to purchase this spool from someone who has one that's been sitting around unused for years. I'll be installing it in my J-Dream (5.3) for bombing BIG crankbaits. He removed the bearing but can't find it (he has the pin and bearing retainer). Does anyone know the size of the bearing? I ...

Champion included. Did nothing for me.
I can’t speak for the entire Champion line because I only own 2 graphite cranking rods which I think are great for their intended purpose.

Re: Bottom Contact Rod!

Perhaps the Xtasy blanks are a step up in performance (don't own one), but quite a few people share the same opinion that Dobyns rods from the Champion line down feel rather dead in hand.[/b] The sensitivity and feedback just isn't there, especially when compared to many similar priced rods. I know...

Re: Bottom Contact Rod!

](*,) I was waiting for the dobyns suggestions to roll in. I could feel it coming. I am with ya. Not a fan. I own 4 Xtasy rods that I have been using for 2 years and have zero complaints. Great hardware, balance, sensitivity and warranty. I'm not implying they're the best, but they're certain...
