Re: Getting A Frog Ready To Fish

I tweak the hooks out a little on all my frogs. It doesn't really affect the weedless qualities and I think it increases hookup percentage. Learn from my mistake, have a good pair of pliers and make sure you have a good grip on the hook. I slipped and flattened the barb twice!

Re: Drop Shot Hook

So, does the line that holds the sinker merely clip into the clip portion of the swivel drop shot hook; or, does one tie a knot in the end to prevent it from slipping out of the clip. Same question for the end with the weight. If you are going to use the swivel shot with a lighter line for a droppe...

X2 on that. Tying 2 knots took longer than with regular drop shot hooks. I bought 2 packs of them and finally just took a pair of wire cutters and cut the ties off and just used the hooks.

I know this is from another forum, but it has a pretty good explanation for why you should use the zman stuff instead of substitutes.

Check your local regulations.

I know guys that do it, where legal.
Not a problem in NY, We are allowed 15 hook points per line.

Using a jig as a drop shot weight?

Does anybody out there ever try using a jig as a drop shot weight? I rigged one up last season but never got around to trying it. I'd hear about it somewhere but was just wondering if anyone had tried it, and did it work. In a way it sorta makes sense, giving you another opportunity for a bite.

Re: Going to experiment with some new spinnerbait brands

I've been using Li'l Hustler the last couple years and really like them. They also make jigs, bladed jigs and buzzbaits.

Re: Crankbait question

Pick the crankbait to meet the technique your wanting to fish .. If I'm fishing laydowns and stickups .. I want a crankbait that will roll over and/or along the tree limbs very well without getting snagged .. And before someone says they don't exist .. Yes, they do I have several models that perfor...

Lowrance Elite CHIRP questions.

hey Guys, I recently bought my first boat, an old Nitro 180TF, and am looking to upgrade the electronics for next season. I have the opportunity to buy a new Lowrance unit for a hefty discount through a buddy of mine and am leaning towards the Elite 7 CHIRP gold unit. Does anyone out there have any ...

Cortland area you have the Susquehana River just to the south of you that has some good spots around the city of Binghampton. I used to live there but been gone for 20 years. Try this site too, might get some local guys to answer you.

Thoughts on Strike King Tour Grade Rage Blade Swim Jig-

Does anyone have any experience with this bait? I have had a fair amount of success fishing bladed jigs in the past couple of years and am always trying something new. Just wondering if these live up to the claims of less hang ups, better hookups, and ability to bounce off cover better than regular ...

Re: Best Dirty Water Chatterbait Trailer

Last season I ran out of the split tail trailers that came with my chatterbait(don't really like them much anyway!) and was looking for something else to try. I happened to have a pack of Pearl Charlie Brewer 3" bass grubs in my bag. Dipped the tail in Chartreuse JJ's Magic and had real good luck wi...

Re: Trailer for Chatterbait?

Charlie Brewer 4" Bass Grub. Sorta found it by mistake. Lost the trailer on my chatterbait and didn't have anymore. Had one pack of these in the right color that had been knocking around in my tackle box and they worked great. Now all I gotta do is buy more.............
