Curado 101D Brake Assembly
Hi, Not sure if this has been asked. The brake assembly of my Curado 101D was damaged and fell off the spool. Is there a way to replace it without replacing the entire spool? http://www.tackletour.com/images/picshimanocuradod22.jpg I have seen brake assembly upgrades in this forum but they were for ...

Re: Customizing an Edge First Strike Rods
The more weight you can reduce out in the tip section of the rod, the better the rod blank will recover from vibration and the more freely it can transmit that vibration down the blank to your hand. "Whippy"?? ... I don't know. That depends on your definition of whippy. "Sensitive" ... I'm a firm b...

Re: Customizing an Edge First Strike Rods
I forgot to ask Matt, will changing to a lighter guide, like TiSic, make a rod less whippy and more sensitive? thanks.

Re: Customizing an Edge First Strike Rods
Thanks Dave. You are right, the bend will remain the same.
I guess a livelier rod and perhaps a more sensitive rod after the upgrade is still worth the effort.

Customizing an Edge First Strike Rods
Been reading about this Edge Rod and it got me really curious so i got a 714. After initial tests, it appears that it is not a FAST rod but rather a Regular action (as described by Japanese rod makers). I think the problem is caused by the guides. According to description " the GTS guides feature ma...

Re: Above average 2 piece casting rods?
Expride 2pc casting. I have handled a couple. A friend bought them from Japan (before Expride was released in the US). Both 2pc. They are very light. From what I remember, they were also very sensitive. There is one MH in Tacklewarehouse. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Expride_Casting_Rods/d...

Re: What reels do you have on your NRX Green 893C JWR?
I have an 893 blue. First time I used it was at night. No light. Could not get a bite BUT I could literally feel fish swimming around my bait. Finally I decided to just give it a yank. Snagged a fish in the side. Went down again, same thing, I could feel fish nosing around my bait. Set the hook and...

Re: What reels do you have on your NRX Green 893C JWR?
The reel is going to have little, if anything at all, to do with sensitivity..your line and the bottom composition will. I've used both a Core 50 and Steez on the rod w/ 14 and 16lb. Toray SuperHard Upgrade..never lacked for any sensitivity to me, which is likely an understatement. Are you not feel...

Re: What reels do you have on your NRX Green 893C JWR?
Thanks Jeb, I will try using other lines. Come to think of it, when I first got the rod, I tested it out of the water :-) by using a t-rig on dry land, at about 20ft out, just to feel the tip when I crawl the worm+hook+tungsten weight. I also tested it on my 75 gallon aquarium (only the leader part ...

What reels do you have on your NRX Green 893C JWR?
I tried a TDZ 103L I'ze Custom Color (with 20lb braid) and also a Daiwa Sol (with 30lb braid) on an NRX Green 893C JWR but I can't get the sensitivity out of this rod. I used the same reels and line on a K's Labo Lakeforce Stage 604MH and it feels more sensitive than the NRX. To be honest, I think m...
