Re: Constructing a sub-7' enthusiast-level heavy pitching stick (tip-down frogging + bottom-contact sensitivity)

NFC MB 709 HM is only $69 on sale now just for a cheap option you can cut 2 inches down. Hard to beat their prices now. I just ordered 4 hm blanks and a im swb blank for about $360 with shipping included. Just something to consider. You get 2 models for any of the others. :D

Re: MB Rod and Reel Combo

You should be able to find those reels alot cheaper right now. I just recieved an IS79UC from JP Angler for i think $385 shipping included which is phenominal for any Steez platform reel and its a Megabass. The Lin Zirconia's are going for in the $550 ball park. Look around a little before you buy t...

Monoblock or LIN 10??????

Can anyone who owns a Monoblock and a LIN 10 varient explain the difference performance and quality wise please.
I cannot decide which would be the best choice for my first round reel. I do not have a specific technique in mind I just plain want one. Thanks Lon its all your fault! :big grin:

Re: K2 Blank Breakage

I had a 736 break on a hookset and it exploaded into 3 pieces, broke the line and the tip flew off in the water with very expensive titanium sic guides on it. That was a sad day. I am just starting to re-build it.

Re: Crooked blanks on high end rods?

What is yalls allowable limit? zero...if you notice the curve, then it's too much. Whether it's a factory rod or one I make...like others said all blanks seem to be crooked to a degree...as you look down it like a rifle, I put the curve up/towards the sky...let gravity and the wt of the guides make...

Thanks Good351 you were right on the money, I just filed it smooth and polished the edges on both reels and they feel like a Steez should once again. :big grin:

Steez 103 HA & SHA level wind guide clicking

I can't seem to find the problem with both my Steez 103's, they both started doing the same thing within weeks of each other. I have replaced the worm gear, bearing collar and pawl on the worst of the 2 and it was fine for about an hour and then started clicking again and you can feel it. It is driv...

Re: Phoenix K2 714 blank

I use my 736 K2 for the same aplication with mostly 3/8 oz tungsten weights and craws of some sort and beaver style baits and absolutely love it. I replaced my NRX 873 with it and it put the NRX to shame balance wise and sensitivity wise. A Steez balances perfect on it. Just another option if you wa...

Re: Taking the plunge: 1st time NRX buyer

I was unimpressed with the 873CRR. The balance is horrible. It was fairly powerful for a MH, but for a $500 rod it shouldn't be so damn tip heavy and promises disapointment. Have a custom Phenix K2 built you will be blown away or wait for the ugly production ones. Megabass would be a far better opti...

Re: 4th custom rod

Good job for your forth. Fancy thread work won't make the rod perform better it just adds more weight generally.
