Re: Black Jungle Deep Throat Custom
That's great to hear. I was hoping it had a mod-fast taper. Sounds like it would be a very sweet all around treble bait rod. How well do you think it would handle 3/4 oz baits? The largest heaviest I would want to throw is the Arashi deep 18 at 7/8oz, but that would only be occasionally. Mostly stay...

Re: Curado 200i maintenance Question
Is this noise on the cast or retrieve? Mine also started making noise but only on the retrieve. Almost like a dry friction sound. After I cleaned the pinion, greased the wormgear, oiled the spool bearings and brake drum, it stopped. Hasn't done it again after two outings. I've never experienced this...

Black Jungle Deep Throat Custom
Whats the skinny on this rod? It looks to me like a shorter mid and deep crank rod. Sounds like it falls right in between the Swingfire and the Launcher, with the black jungle beauty and blank quality of course. I'm looking for something that handles Rapala DT 10 to 16 with authority. One thing I kn...

Re: Shimano Deep Crank
Ok thanks for the explanation. I was thinking 101 only for suze and palmability. Since I will likely be using this reel for bluefish and stripers the 201 does make much more sense. Line will likely be 10-12lb mono. Thinking what I'll do is find a used DC 201 and then later on when I have more dispos...

Re: Most manageable fluorocarbon?
I've been a Seaguar Invisx user for years, tried Sunline Sniper and didn't see any advantages. I currently am using Invisx 10lb on my Black Elsiel and believe this to be the perfect setup for everything that rod can do besides topwater.

Re: Shimano Deep Crank
That makes sense. I don't trust paint though. So I'll stick with the aluminum and c14 reels, I prefer be feel when cranking anyway.

Re: Shimano Deep Crank
I'm also curious as to why Shimano seems to say select magnesium reels are saltwater ok, yet Daiwa doesn't.

Re: Shimano Deep Crank
Good thought. I prefer the feel of aluminum frame reels anyway. I was wondering about the whole magnesium deal. I know some say they use mg in the salt but clean thoroughly after every trip, I'm not big on that kinda maintenance. This is the only non Curado reel I'll use in the salt btw.

Re: Shimano Deep Crank
Dark3 - That's a good suggestion, certainly one of the most economical. I'm just concerned the 6.3 ratio is going to be too much strain on the arm after a day. I have tendinitis in my right arm so ease of cranking is a huge plus. Spooky - I've been eying up a 101 dc. Any reason for suggesting the 20...

Shimano Deep Crank
I need a reel for deep cranking and would prefer if it was shimano. I own a curado 200i and only have ownership experience with that reel for shimanos. I've owned high end daiwa: Steez, Ryoga, Zillion, but I've always wanted a few shimano reels. It also should be saltwater okay as it's likely it wil...

Super hot reel! I have recently discovered Don and am eager to acquire one. Would make a pretty amazing deep crank reel matched up with a glass Japanese rod.
