Re: fantasista regista

Drove home, during lunch, to check out the 6'10" Fantasista that got dropped off by UPS. The rod shipped from Hodgkins, Il, so I was hoping it would get to Michigan in good shape. It's everything I expected it to be. I've been wanting to try a Fanatasista for a long time. What a steal for $158...

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto

A patent usually only lasts from 7 to 20 years, depending on what the intellectual property entails. Pretty sure the Senko has been out for at least 20 yrs now, which is probably why Zoom and everybody else now uses salt in their baits.

Re: Megabass Monoblock Grigio Stone - first impressions

The cc cap and leather accents are a throw-back feature, paying homage to the original monoblock. I always thought the leather looked out-of-place on a fishing reel, but the cc cap is cool lmo.

Re: Daiwa Zillion Type R drag star on TDZ

You can also roll or fold the drag thrust washers a little more so they put pressure on the drag stack sooner, but the extra washer works, too. It might not let you back off the drag 100% after adding extra washer(s).

Re: Drag slipping in cold weather

Guys, I appreciate your responses. The Daiwa SV103’s come equipped with carbon fiber washers which I’ve read can be installed DRY. Are you guys saying they should/must be lubed? If so, wouldn’t the grease be an issue under freezing temperatures? Grease doesnt freeze at the same temp as water, as is...

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto

I know a baitmaker that uses sand in his baits. He says its way cheaper and takes less of it vs.salt. Only thing is that it affects the lighter colors and the baits are more opaque. They still catch fish, though. Or more accurately, he uses sandblasting silica. Is is heavier than salt, so he uses l...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

I would like to see a bfs version of the Steez A with 32mm spool like the SV Light. There currently isn't anything in their BFS range with t wing. Then maybe a Steez A HD with brass gears and back up antireverse pawl. And if they added a back up antireverse pawl and hyper digigears to the new 2018 ...

Re: Daiwa Tatula Handle Nut Cover?

Any of the standard Daiwa handle nuts will work. They look better than the original also. You will need the small size nut plate to go with the screw that you already have. The Tackle Trap sells what you need. They also sell the original. Even the small nut retainers will need to have the screw hol...

Re: Monoblock - Why?

Thanks. Sounds great. Is this all I need: https://japantackle.com/tuning-parts/spools-casting-reels/daiwa/tu000071.html ? You can order the pinion shaft through Tackle Trap in AL. And yes, they do ship internationally, but you have to inquire directly. There is no way to order on the website if you...

Re: Drag slipping in cold weather

Grease in the anti-reverse bearing will cause it to slip in cold weather, so maybe some of the factory grease from the gearing got in there. Soak them in 91% rubbing alcohol for a couple of hours, then wipe them with a clean dry cloth and allow to air dry. Add a very thin coating of Cal's drag greas...

Re: UL bass in Africa

Great pics. I have to say that I am shocked about the float tube fishing in S. Africa. I have watched too many nature shows because when I think of freshwater and Africa, I think of Crocs. I have communicated with Africanbasstackler about this and he says that he is much more afraid of hippos than ...

Re: UL bass in Africa

Are the tilapia widespread there? I know bass like to eat them and they fatten up quick (where tilapia are present), like in some south Florida lakes.
