Re: Ticking Sound-Stradic FM
Since you mentioned it above, I have and love love love my Gekkabijin X. It has quickly become my favorite eggbeater. I have it on a 2 pc ML rod that stays in the xterra. I've used it extensively, and I've caught some 4-6# fish with it. I have zero complaints, and it is still as smooth as day one. I...

Re: Passing of a longtime member...
Man, that sucks! He has been a great fixture here, though he took a break here the last several years(he told me to spend with his grandkids). He will be missed, for sure.

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis
A soldering iron set to low might soften the epoxy enough to lay those pokey fibers flat. A heat gun would work also, but you will need to be very careful.

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis
Has anybody received shipping information on their pre-orders? I haven't, but did email them a couple days ago asking when they'd be shipping out as my wife and I just bought a new house so needed to know whether to change my shipping address or not (plus when I ordered it stated 3-5 weeks and has ...

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis
Cal, Are all the guides on this rod Recoils, or just the running guides? If the stripper guide is a Recoil, did you try casting with a leader knot of, say, 30 lb. (or heavier) braid and 15 lb. (or heavier) leader of nylon mono or fluorocarbon? (I have some concern about whether leader knots would p...

If you can birdnest it, then yes, it's a lemon.

Re: What happened to Shimano’s quality control?
I was pretty excited and finally got my Expride 7'2 MH spinning rod last week, got it out of the shipping tube and did my typical inspections, not even 15 minutes into it and the rod is back in the shipping tube and shipped it back on the same day for a refund. The reason? the blank was not straigh...

Re: What happened to Shimano’s quality control?
What happens when a rod goes clicking on the cast is usually when a rod has been flex to the point where the epoxy on the line guides has cracked. The threads are still holding the foot of the line guides but the epoxy bonding may no longer be fully bonded. While the line guide still remains in pla...

Re: Metanium and Bantam Bearings Noise
I have to agree with you on the HEG gears since I own 2 scorpion dc and they're awesome reels, but the noise issues I'm having with these reels aren't related to MM gears since it only started happening after I applied oil to these bearings and can hear it only while casting but smooth and quite du...

Re: Metanium and Bantam Bearings Noise
The sandy/sandy gritty feeling has been discussed at length here. In many instances, it has been premature gear wear/failure. The micro module gears have had problems, so much so that many people put the equivalent brass Curado gears into other reels that had aluminum MM gearing. I wish they had nev...
