Re: Time to upgrade, suggestions?
Since you mentioned Dobyns I will chime in on a few I own or have fished with. Nothing beats handling the rods in store (or even fishing if you have a dealer willing to loan you rods) so I would at least check them out in person before purchasing. 1 - I would look at the Champ 766flip or DX795 if yo...

Re: ABU Garcia Rods
I have had a Vengeance, Vendetta and Veritas at one point or another. They're all good rods at the price point but I think it's well worth the $20-50 to get the Veritas over the other two. There's a noticeable difference in weight and possibly a small difference in sensitivity. I would recommend han...

Re: Reel for a Loomis GLX 893
I'm not using a BCR893 but I don't think reel suggestions are necessarily rod-specific. I usually throw senkos on a Sol and love the little reels. Relatively light, small and palms in my hands perfectly. I can cast/pitch a 4/5" senko as far as I need to but still toss a 1/8oz shaky head...very good ...

Re: Dobyns or Zombie?
between 3 friends and a employee of Last Chance bait and Tackle which is the biggest freshwater shop in Southern California that caries nearly the whole catalog of : GYCB, LC and Jackall. We all have had chipped guides on our Swimbait rods (Gen 2). I own a 795ML. My friend and his worker own a 807 ...

Re: Dobyn's 734c or 735c?
The 734c was my first Dobyns rod and is still my favorite. It almost always has a jig tied on although I will fish a spinnerbait, spook, senko, etc on it if I need to. The 734c is probably the best "general purpose" rod from my experience. I also fish a deep and gin-clear lake and have no problem wi...

Re: What is a good topwater knot?
I also tie directly to a snap...but mostly because I can never tie a loop knot I feel comfortable with Use a decent quality snap (not the cheap snap-swivels) and something else will break before it does.

Re: Megabass Rods
you know, this is the least talked about topic in these forums but probably one that should be mentioned more. my thoughts on that is a lot of the BIG SHOT rod companies that are competing against each use the same blank manufacturers but will never admit it. i dont think there is many companies tha...

Re: New dobyns!
I agree with you on this one. Dobyns rods are so versatile that they can be used for multiple purposes. Like you mentioned in the video, the rod is made for carolina rigs but Randy McAbee also uses it for swimbaits and flipping/pitching. I'm really interested in getting this rod also to use as a li...

Re: Reels with bait clickers?
Thanks for all the great info, knew they were out there  We usually fish fairly deep (40-60 fow) but even with a good size striper that makes a run I don't know if I need the line capacity of a Shimano 400/Abu 6000 reel. :-k Currently when trolling I'm just loosening the drag enough to hold the...

Re: Pure Fishing Baitcasters
I absolutely love most all of the Pure Fishing reels I've gotten my grubby mitts on the last 5-6 years. IMO they represent a new age in fishing reels. Excellent quality, excellent performance, excellent prices! Maybe not the BEST reel period, but they sure can compete with whatever reel that may be...

Reels with bait clickers?
Does anyone have some suggestions on reels with clickers? Not clicking drag/tension knobs but a clicker you can turn on/off generally used for live bait fishing. This feature seems to have disappeared from most modern reels or it's just not listed in lots of descriptions. Looking for a casting reel ...

Re: St. Croix trade in
I have 2 of the LE 7'MH and absolutely love them and there on the no sell list but if I had a choice of elites or Extremes its all Elites I'm not a fan of the styling of my Extremes or the sound the recoils make with braid, I've owned 3 of each and currently have (2) 7'MH Elites and a 6'8ML spinnin...

Re: St. Croix trade in
Looking forward to hearing your review. I'm debating using the trade in program on a few LTB's I'm not too fond of. I was considering the LE70MHF but would still like some feedback on your rod. The XC70MHF would be another option but I hated the split grips on my LTB rods and they look very similar.

Re: Palomar Knot?
I think the strength of a palomar with fluoro depends a lot on the line being used. Some lines I never have problems with a palomar but with some of the Sunline lines I've tried recently have had a couple slip (at the worst possible moment of course). Will have to give the trilene knot a try and see...

Re: Little unhappy with my Zillion Coastal
Thanks for all the replies. I'm positive there's nothing wrong with it and I'm probably just being a little picky due to being use to the drag on the revo inshores, and upgraded ambassaduers and curados i have. Im not one to button down a drag most or all the way to get good pressure. Honestly its ...
