Re: Recommendations for a hairjig rod
Don't want to hijack the thread but has anyone compared the Chris Johnston 761MLFS Tatula to an SJR 901(IMX Pro)?

Tatula 721 MRB
Anyone have experience with this rod? I have the 701MLRB and love it for jerkbaits up to a Vision 110 but need something for larger baits like a Pointer 100DD and Duo 100DD.

Bantam, 20 Metanium or ? for NRX+ 873
Finally broke down and ordered a NRX+ 873 CRR for pitching jigs. Can't decide between a Bantam or a Metanium to put on it. Due to the exchange rate it's gonna be a JDM, but besides weight is there a reason to choose one over the other? Or is there something else to throw in the mix? Thought also abo...

Re: A Different Approach : The New Player - Trika Rods
Very curious about these rods. The very sensitive description of the prototype is definitely something I’d like to hear more about.
Also, what size are the guides? I personally have come to hate micro guides.

Re: What is your primary line setup?
Straight fluoro on most of my setups. I use braid to fluoro on my spinning setups and have tried it on some baitcast setups but I just hate that leader knot going through my guides. I do use braid with a short leader of mono for some topwater fishing to keep the line from fouling often, but it's a s...

Re: Expride actions
Both action and power in comparison to other brands. I like a standard fast action or even mod-fast like my KLX 7’6”H that I use for 3/4+jigs, etc. I’m really looking for something a half step to step below my KLX in power with a fast action. I have an old IMX MB843 and a 7’3” MH fast Sp Ed. Tatula ...

Expride actions
Looking at getting a new Expride B primarily for 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs. I am not sure if I want the 7'2"MH or H. Probably gonna pair it with a Metanium. What kind of actions are the Exprides compared to say a 3 power Loomis Mag Bass or Tatula MH? It's so hard to pick a rod without an opportunity to fo...

I love the new handle design. I'm also glad they kept it cork too.
A new Expride casting rod was all that was on my radar. After seeing the spinning rods, they're on my list too!

Aldebaran 51HG ('15) vs. Curado 71HG MGL
Besides weight, how do these reels compare to each other? Thinking about upgrading one of my Curado 71HG's that I use for jerkbaits and small swimbaits with 10lb fluoro. Basically just have an itch for a new reel and I've never had one of the magnesium reels from Shimano and I have seen some decent ...

Re: Which State would you choose?
Considering only the places I have been, It'd be hard to pick one.
Half the year in East Texas, half the year in Northern Michigan would be ideal.
I've only fished one lake in Tennessee, but it does look like a promising location as far as an abundance of options though.

Re: Your Path to the Dark Side ...
Somewhere in the '98-2000 range I took a test ride in a new Skeeter at the Grand Challenge. When the boat driver was showing the compartment layout I noticed these beautiful maroon Curados(actually Scorpions) in the rod locker. With a mischievous grin the guy talked about the JDM stuff he loved. I s...

Re: To Spiral Or Not to Spiral... what is your preference?
I like my spiral wrapped rods while fishing them but hate the way they tangle up with other rods sitting on the deck of the boat. Maybe if I only had 3-4 rods on the deck at a time they'd be OK, but that is rarely the case.

Re: Light action spinning rod suggestions
Thanks for all the suggestions! As much as I wanted to try a Zodias, it sounds like it's a Light+ and I'm looking for a true light or even a wimpy light. The Phenix M1 might be my best bet from the sounds of it due to not wanting to spend $250+ on some of the G Loomis offerings.
