Re: Is Lucky Craft out of buisiness
They've discontinued a bunch of good stuff over the years. One of my favorites was the Bevy Shad MkII 50SP, and I haven't seen one for sale in over a year.

Re: What rods do you thinks we'll see debut at the Classic?
Dang... I may have to get that new BFS Ultima.
I've been fishing the 172H for a couple of years now, and it may be my favorite rod ever. It's just so perfect for so many uses.

Mine always seems to have a 4.8" Swing Impact Fat on it.

Re: Ultralight Gear Ratio
Another reel to consider is the Shimano Vanquish. It is available in a pretty wide variety of size and ratio combinations in the smaller sizes. I am personally waiting on a C2500XGS to come in, and I'm strongly considering getting a C2000HGS as well. I prefer faster ratios for most of my fishing. It...

Re: Poison Ultima Feedback
I got a 172H from Plat about 2 weeks ago. Haven't been able to try it, but I'm super impressed with how it feels.
Now I just need my Metanium DC XG and 15lb Tatsu to get here so that I can go test it out with some jigs on Lake Guntersville.

Re: BFS baitcaster shootout, a personal journey
We have had some good finesse threats this month and this one is no exception. It has really got me thinking about all the big bream in Guntersville. Been trying to do this without spending a boat load of money and it seems Patex has done the ground work for me, nice work. :D I've had lots of fun c...

Re: $300 UL Rig
Huh never knew that the 1000FJ didn't have an aluminum frame. I owned one for a short time and only used it for a few trips, but it really felt like it was too solid to be graphite. I was fishing with a 1500 size Certate and my 1000 Ci4 on those trips as well, so I figured that I would have noticed....

Re: $300 UL Rig
The TSRs are excellent rods. I use mine all the time and love it. You really can't go wrong with one. My next ultralight purchase is going to be a Phenix Elixir 7ft 1 piece. I held one at the Bassmasters Classic last year and loved the way it felt. It had a really nice fast action with a soft tip an...

Re: $300 UL Rig
I have my Ci4 on a 6'8" UL rod. I've used it on 2 different 6'8" ultralights (G.Loomis TSR and a Varivas Violente) and it balances both of them out great, but I've never tried it on a longer rod. I personally prefer fast action rods over moderate for the most part. My Varivas is an exception though ...

Re: $300 UL Rig
The 1000FJ does have an aluminum frame. Are you thinking of the Ci4+? The Ci4 reels are actually pretty rigid and don't really flex or anything unless you're using heavy braid and cranking down the drag. I have an original Stradic 1000Ci4 and it has made a few trips to the Gulf of Mexico. I keep 6lb...

Re: Poison Glorious Time
I really need to get my hands on a PG someday. I've wanted the 6'8" BFS rod for a while now but I just haven't managed to make myself order one. The poison ultima line was expanded this year. Do you have any links to info about the new additions to the series? I'm currently checking around for a 172...

Re: Why doesn't Aaron Martens use Daiwa/Megabass reels?
From what I understand he just likes Shimano reels better and can get them through a friend pretty cheap. I'm sure he's tried both and his decision speaks for itself. I think shimano should just go ahead and reward him with a sponsorship. As for getting them through a friend for cheap? I call b.s. ...

Re: Staple bait.
Yeah good idea. I'll have to give this a try since I use a lot of smaller straight shank worm hooks.
