Re: Dobyns 742c vs 742sf HP

I agree that the casting model is slightly more powerful...I would say about half a power more. It's hard to tell though because of the nature of casting vs spinning.

Re: Bass Fishing Bycatches

Lake Alamo is a small Arizona lake in the middle of nowhere. It was famous for 100 fish days in the 80's. The 4" ringworm was the overwhelming bait of choice there during that time. I fished my first club tournament there in 1988. I broke off a nice fish on a a rock pile fishing a motor oil with ch...

Re: Airrus Stargate - Foregrip problem

That. Looks. Bad. I don't have any nicer way to put it other than it looks bad...I wouldn't want to fish it because that would start to hurt! Have you tried contacting Airrus yet?? I really do wonder if it's just a defect that went out...

Re: EDGE RODS by Gary Loomis?

I know I mention Dobyns a lot here on this forum. I am not a pro staff for them or have any connections to them. But you should defiantly Give them a try. I fish gloomis, shimano, Dobyns, cousins tackle, st croix and a few others. Personally, Dobyns make great rods for the price, I have their low e...

Re: EDGE RODS by Gary Loomis?

My buddy uses them, he broke 2 out of the 4 in a hook set and had a hard time dealing with customer service. I think this is the norm...they're completely understaffed in customer service from all the stories you hear, and it becomes a nightmare (or test of patience) to deal with them. They're real...

Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP 703C

I don't have the 702 because it's more of a finesse oriented stick, but I do have the 742 and it's not under powered at all for those lighter jigs and shaky heads.

I definitely fish one power more with Dobyns because I fish the CA Delta.

Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP 703C

I've never actually fished an Ika, but I've had no issue pitching a T-rig with a 3/16 oz weight.

Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP 703C

It's a great senko and spinnerbait rod. Perfect length for pitching into tight spaces and loads up really well with 3/8 oz spinnerbaits. I also like using it for heavier dropshots using 12# fluorocarbon and a 1/4 oz weight.

Re: Daiwa big bait handle

If it's brand new, they go for $50 or so and you could easily get $35-40 for it. You should try using it. I have them on my SV reels and they feel great.

Re: Braid That Keeps Its Color

Daiwa Samurai Braid stays green...the first few uses you're going to have green hands, but once that initial break in occurs, then you don't have that issue and the line stays green. I've had the same Daiwa Samurai Braid on my reels for the last 6 or 7 years and it's still green and performs flawles...

Re: Champion Extreme 745HP

I don't have the HP, but I am disappointed in the sensitivity of the original...I still have it, but I'm on the search for something to replace it. I'm thinking going with either Kistler or St. Croix.
