Re: Core vs steez

Interesting conversation so far. Not having experience with the Core I've felt compelled to remain on the sidelines even though I have a beloved 103HA that performs with a subtle smoothness and casts likes theirs no tomorrow. The one thing that I thought I'd bring up is that some of the older gang t...

Re: chronarch CI4+ & 13metanium

" :-k I am rather disappointed in the ci4+ after seeing your review. ..." Thought there'd be more to the Chrony, at least more similarities to the Met than not. First the Tat, now this. Well at least I didn't find out in hand. Just means more reasons to buy JDM next year. Thanks for the break down! ...

WooooHooooo!!! Gotta love 'em!!! Fantastic man. Absolutely gorgeous combos. Have you used them yet? How do they feel? BTW, thanks for sharing Rick ... great photos. =P~ Dying to know what a combo like that feels like .. I can get close with some of mine, Calais 200 DC on an NRX, and a Certate on a N...

Re: What's your favorite 2 oz. and under swimbait?

Great topic! Tough answer, lol. Triton Mike's Bull Shad 5&6" (also 6" Herring). Probably caught more fish on this single brand bait than all my others combined! For those who are looking for good baits that fit this description and are very productive, and I hope no one minds, but it's for the benef...

Re: Frog line

I use Sufix 832 in 65# and really appreciate the finer quality braid that it is. I've found that a frog reel also benefits from a TIGHT reel spooling with whatever braid line you choose so it can't dig in when you cross the fishes eyes on the set. If you don't know how to do this yourself then have ...

Re: Role of 2012 Antares in your arsenal

I am planning to get New Antares HG or Antares DC7LV for jerkbaits/topwaters in the range of 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz. And sometimes some jigs of the same range. (Still looking for the perfection rod for that application.) Long casts is one of my priorities, because I have to comb large areas. Comfortable p...

Re: why is the edge 705-1 more expensive than other edge ro

The first thing I noticed when I got my Edge Mag 705 spiral wrapped rod, specifically with my first decent fish, was the lack of handle twist or torque while fighting the fish. It's an incredible feeling! You can actually relax your hand on the handle while fighting the fish because you aren't fight...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Wow you’ve taken an excellent performing reel which is a classic and turned it into a piece of art, like a monoblock. I have to seriously consider doing this to one of my CQ 51’s. Awesome job esoxstyle. =D> =D> =D> Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems this also removed the dings, cuts and scrapes w...

Re: New PB Redfish on Lake Ponchartrain

Tremendous fish Lon! Awesome angling getting him thru the pylons without a break-off. Sheez, 12# Momoi High Catch Mono? Man you have got some cajones! Doesn't take much in your waters to cut or abrade your line to a break off ... Great job turning a possible loss into a definite win! :laugh1:

Re: Edge Rods (gary loomis) anybody fished it yet/

Can someone confirm this round doesn't have a trigger? Don't quite know what you're referring to but both the TW and the Edge site can provide images of the rods and confirm which have triggers (basically all casting thru medium heavy, beyond triggerless) and which don't. Also, plz call them (ask f...

Re: Swimbait Fishing and Economics...???

Personally I believe that swimbait fishing is at a different level that the other techniques because you're focusing on bigger fish with bigger baits, at least I am. It's a primary focus not about having one or two 6" baits and tossing them just once in a while. The other techniques seem to be less ...
