For close to a week I kept trying to get them off, it's all I could think about it, day and night, getting those damn knobs off.to this day it's still ...

Re: mgx ivcb casting problem
One thing I found with that reel is that the brake drums has to be nice and clean (polished smooth?) and very lightly coated with oil in order for peak performance. Even more so than with other centrifugal reels. The distance on casts gets sliced down drastically and there's just overall inconsisten...

Re: Fluorocarbon ?
the modified albright knot that some refer to as the alberto knot is the best connection knot for braid to fluoro that i have found. If your using the double uni knot the problem you may have is that over time the braid cuts into the leader and will break off. the double uni is better suited for con...

Re: Tape Vs Mono backing on spool
strictly financial. waste to fill spool with expensive line when you will never let it get even half way or so before filling again. using mono backing becomes even more important when you own more than several reels. take care.

Re: The Greaser
try tg rocket liquid grease for frame bearings and worm gear. spool bearings are a whole other animal and should never be greased in a premium bass reel. just my opinion anyways. take care.

Re: Fuego BC handle removal question
that style cap/retainer (whatever the actual term) is miserable. not only are they difficult to get on/off but they are not durable at all. you can just about count on those breaking sooner or later if, god forbid, you need to remove the handle every once in awhile. Id say your easily in the danger ...

Re: Spooling Station
for my purposes, ill stick with my berkeley and save the big money for other tackle like rods and reels. an expensive spooling station would be nice but it's a luxury that wouldnt be at the top of my luxury list.

Re: Spooling Station
that "cheap" berkeley spooling station that you can pick up for about 30 bucks may be a piece of junk but man have i gotten my moneys worth out of the one i purchased a few yrs back. no earth shattering technology here....no need to read an instruction manual....just a basic, simple, piece of plasti...

thanks for your take. you bring some very astute observations to this discussion and it sounds like you are knowledgeable on the subject matter so i wouldnt try to dismiss what you say. like i mentioned above, it may just be perceived matters of smoothness that have me fooled. perhaps, like you stat...

Re: problems with shimano reel handle/knobs
when troubleshooting a difficult knob switch to handle that is a good suggestion. i have found that using incorrect screws will cause problems with fitting a knob and your suggestion was one i had not heard before (or thought of myself). thanks for the advice.

Re: hedgehog bearings
ya maxzmus i never tried them either until recently despite having tried a potpourri of just about every other well known high performance bearing. ive heard very little on these bearings (positive or critical) and after trying them i was surprised they arent more popular. perhaps the new air bearin...

hedgehog bearings
i read the most recent review tday on tackletour about the hedgehog air bearings and im not sure if anyone on hear has tried them but i for one will definitely be giving these a try. Im not sure how many here have tried any of hedgehogs other bearings but i purchased a set recently (the steel ones w...

Re: problems with shimano reel handle/knobs
depending how much play in the handle you may even want to put another bearing or bushing in there if possible. ive used an extra bushing or bearing before as a filler. usually it has happened to me when im buying knobs from another company that sell knobs compatible to both shimano and daiwa.
