Re: Rod and reel heaven
I've been throwing them on a heavier medium Croix casting rod, but..... I'm starting to transition more to spinning tackle just because one, I enjoy it more, and 2, I have the option of stopping and switching retrieve hands if desired.

Re: Rod and reel heaven
I posted earlier about really liking this setup, but I forgot to mention, if it came down to having ONLY one nice setup for fishing, I would take a maxed out top of the line spinning setup like this. For the fishing I do, having the ability to present finesse lures with the drag to back em is key. ...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods
I want to start off by saying the conquest is bueatiful. The craftsmanship was perfect as far as I could tell the rod had no blemishes. I was surprised that the conquest did not come with a rod sleeve like my nrxs, being that the conquest is suppose to be the new flagship rod. Besides the rod sleev...

Re: School me on round reels
What are your line capacity requirements? If you run braid exclusively, you may have some options available that otherwise you wouldn't if you're running a thick 30# mono or something along those lines... Oh crap, the guy that's probably going to sell me the reel showed up. Planning on braid ...

School me on round reels
Hey guys, wanting to get a round reel for targeting some of these big toothy critters we have up here, but outside of the low profile bass reel market, I’m lost. Pretty much the only round reel that I’m even aware of the existence of is the Shimano Calcutta. I’m not terribly brand loyal. I’d have no...

Drop shot, but I’ll be screwed because there’s a good chance that’s what I was already fishing

My 843s is pretty light. Not the lightest rod I own, but close.

Re: Knot question
Thanks for the replies guys, I think I’m going to take a spool of line to work with me and practice at my desk.
With the light line should I be increasing my number of wraps?
Going from 20# Samurai to 7# FC sniper.

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods
If it makes it a year, anything that happens to it is operator error. It is eligible for the expeditor program too True on blanks, but guides, bindings, reel seats/glue are different IMO. Also a function how often a rod is fished re: the above. I'll agree to a point..... though most people that are...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods
This might be very important. You will want to clarify the warranty. I assumed it would have a limited lifetime warranty like other G. Loomis rods. My tackle shop says it only has a one year warranty (like Shimano rods). I sold my NRX for one of these and now I wished I hadn’t. There is no way I am...
