Re: Got spooled... Anyone else?

I have only had it happen in saltwater. Once on a tarpon on a 2500 spinning reel, and once on a bull red on a zillion coastal. I may have cried a bit on that tarpon.

Re: Shimano SLX DC bird nesting

Keep in mind the cast control is set a bit differently. Dont base it on the drop, base it on side to side play in the spool.

Re: Night fishing and lighting

The problem with a yak having red/green lights is that boaters see those lights and assume it is another powered vessel. Clearly powered vessels move much faster than a yak, and this could cause problems for both parties.

Of course the manual is in Japanese…how do I get the side plate open to adjust the brakes?

I am not sure of the literal translation, but part of it said "all your Ben Franklins are belong to us." At least that is what I heard.

Re: Daiwa Ryoga SV shl

Just like the previous Ryoga, it is a great little tank of a reel. 7.1:1 ratio, what is there not to like?

Re: ZPI or type-r+ spool for Zillion sv tws

I think you will be impressed with the SV spool. It is a great spool especially for pitching. I would not personally change the spool at all. If you are dead set on changing it out, I personally would go with the ZPI spool as I have always found the Type R+ spool to be cantankerous.

Re: Paddle recommendations?

The best paddle I have ever used was a Bending Branches Angler Pro model. Light, extendable, but no bent shaft. Check one out.

Re: Used round reels ????

Everyone should own a Conquest at least once. They are fine pieces of art, and a working tool. There is just something about those Conquests that just feel "right."

Otto's Tackle World and motackle.com.au are two good Australia websites to check out.
