Shimano Stradic CI4+ 2500 Spinning Reel

Before I get into my question, I have some of the original pearl colored Stradics that came out back in the day. I want to say 1990's ? Anyway, back then I cleaned one of the reels only to find out when I put it back together, the reels wasn't as smooth as it was before I took it apart. Apparently b...

Re: tsi 321

I use it on all of my reels along with all of the reels I clean for my fishing club. No problems at all. I apply it once a year on my reels, and lasts the entire time. I do not mix oils. Personally I would pick a oil and stick to it. If you want to try a different oil, remove the first one thorough...

Re: tsi 321

Wish we could get the stuff here in Australia... Like easily from a retailer and not have to import it at an abhorrent price with even more an abhorrent postage fee! Slazmo, Look up Smooth Drag and see how much Dawn would charge you for shipping to Australia. I buy the big bottle. Do you have to pa...

Re: Degreaser for gear set

I do the same as above, except my final cleaning in the ultrasonic is naphtha in a small jar with the lid lightly screwed on.

I make and paint my own. They work fine and they do catch fish.

Shimano Aldebaran Purchase

I am looking for (6) new Shimano Aldebarans. I believe Tackle Trap doesn't sell Shimano anymore (I maybe wrong). Where are some good places with good prices? If you want to PM me that would be fine as well. Thanks in advance

Re: Shimano Core 51 MG7

Clean them just like you do any bearings. It’s just a pressed in shield(not sealed) as opposed to a shield held in with a retainer. Ultrasonic does a great job cleaning out those bearings without removal. It is possible to remove the shields, but there is a risk of damage. That's all the info I nee...

Shimano Core 51 MG7

I got 5 of these reels to clean for a friend of mine. I noticed the 3 sets of bearings I took out look like sealed bearings. These are stock from shimano. (2 ) of them on the side plates and 1 under the main gear in the frame. Can these bearings be cleaned or are the permanently sealed? I normally c...

Re: Small bearing greaser

Packing bearings with grease is a touchy subject. To much grease and the reel feels stiff and harder to turn the handle. Not enough grease and it lacks the protection needed. Finding the right grease seems to make a big difference as well. If fishing strictly freshwater, I wouldn’t worry about grea...

Re: Small bearing greaser

This is the one I own... Expensive little bit of kit but WORTH every dollar... An excellent tool for those oscillating worm shaft bearings in Stella's etc, that can't have their shields removed. Goes very well when coupled with Inox MX6 grease, thick enough to keep water out and light enough to kee...

Re: Small bearing greaser

I know for a fact that Alan Tani has them, as I was going to buy one, but didn't really see a need for putting grease in a small bearing. Below is the info he e-mailed me last April 2018. "Yes, got a bunch. "They are $60 with $7.20 for shipping. if that's ok, send me a check for $67.20 to 12362 ted ...
