Polishing Main and Pinion Gears

So I have a question for you guys. My gen 1 Revo Premier has brass gears throughout, and there is no problem with that. On my Revo MGX, the pinion gear look like it has a black coating, and the main gear looks dull gray. They are both metal. Can I polish these the way I polish brass gear sets, or is...

Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

The bearing cages could've tightened by lateral pressure and if they were plastic they could've deformed. Running metal caged bearings dry is a no go because of the added friction points - oil being the modifier and why the bearing performs when "wet". Don't know what happened after clean...

Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

Need you some speed spool hi-speed custom spool speed bearings   I would have put in new bearings once I knew the original bearings didn't spin well, after they were cleaned. However, this was not my reel and my friend didn't want to spend $20-$30 for bearings. I still wonder how the ree...

Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

It looks like the cage is metal. I did not use Acetone, I used Naphtha. Acetone is a lot stronger than Naphtha which is lighter fluid. That's all the info I have.

Bearings have me Perplexed

So I go to clean a Pflueger spinning reel (1990's) for a friend of mine. I do the regular clean and start to check the two bearings in the reel. One on handle side and one opposite side. They look dirty and do spin some. I go to clean the bearings in my ultrasonic cleaner with naphtha. Take them out...

Quieting Down Bearings

So I cleaned my buddies baitcaster and now he doesn't like the sound of the bearings. I cleaned both bearings at the ends of the worm gear, spool bearing, sideplate bearing, spool control knob bearing and main gear shaft bearing. Once clean I then added a drop of TSI 321 to each bearing. The reel wo...

BPS Reel Schematics

I tried to contact BPS for a schematic for one of their reels and I can't get a return call. Does anyone know where to get a schematic for a BPS reel model JML10LG? Limited Series, High Speed, Johnny Morris reel. Thanks in advance.

Drag Testing Gauge/Tool

Does anyone test to see how much drag their reels have? If so what do you use to do this or is there a gauge or tool to test drag tension on a reel? Thanks for any help.

Re: spool bearing pin removal tool

I’ve been using the older hedgehog tool for a while. It works fine for me. A little off topic, but is there a direction that the spool pin should be removed/installed? In other words, is there a slight taper to the pin or pinhole? I'm a little confused by your question. If you have been using your ...

Re: spool bearing pin removal tool

Mark, I love my Revos. I also have (3) Gen 1 premiers. The pins are easy to take out. I use the tool from Tackle Trap. $26.99 by Hedge Hog studios. The sool pin is .307 long, the hole in the spool shaft is.0585. The shaft of the spool is .1878 diameter. The pin that goes into the spool is not tapere...
