Core 100 MG FV cast tension cap ?

The part number is BNT 3811. I can't find anyone that has it in stock, not even Dads ole tackle or Southwest parts. Looking at the Core 50 MG7 the cap looks similar in pictures just different color. It's number is BNT 4045. I can get one but don't want to waste money if it won't fit. Can anyone conf...

Re: Wondering on a cu100d gear swap?

There are almost no gears at all still available for any of the D model reels. The pinion for the the 100D fits the 100B and the 50 MG. It's not available from anyone anymore.

need help picking sunglasses

I have a large head. I never thought I did but I must because every pair of glasses I ever pick up are tight against my temples and the ear bend starts before it gets to my ears unless it's extendable, which only seems to come on cheap models. I want a pair of top quality polarized glasses that are ...

Re: Curado 70 Mystery

I've had that same problem with several different shimano reels in my shop. It's always been a case of a slight bulge in the brass where the spool drive pin pushs.

Re: Bearing Quality

Stock is 1 to 3. If looking for replacements, just get a good stainless bearing. Abec ratings are about how fast a bearing can spin for sustained time without vibration. Those bearings are very slow spinning so any good stainless bearing will be fine. After having tried several variations, I'm posit...

Re: Antares DC7 gears ?

They are the exact same gears as the Calais DC that is sold domestically. Just order the gears from Shimano USA. If they were the 5.8 gears you would have to get them from Japan. I have replaced mine already with Calais gears for the same reason you are thinking about it. They just felt a little ro...

Antares DC7 gears ?

A customer sent me a DC7 for service. After cleaning it still feels grindy. I replaced the AR clutch and that made it better but it still has a buzz feel when cranking. The gears show some wear so replacing them is the next step. Everything else is in great shape and all bearings spin smooth. Talked...

Re: Shimano's Stock Drag Washer???

Most major reel manufacturers are now using carbon fiber washers in at least the top end reels. Even shimano has started using them. Shimano must still have a large supply of the dartainium material because instead of using only carbon fiber washers they are now using carbon fiber in the most critic...

Re: Adjusting breaks on Calcutta 200D??

I have found that it seems to go easier if you depress the thumb bar before loosening the knurled thumb screws. Then, with the thumb bar down, lift the complete side cover / gear case off. When you put it back in, hold the thumb bar up and then crank the reel to engage it after the gear case is in p...

Re: oil and grease recommendations

Been using the TSI for over a year now and love it. I use the 301 on bearing so i can just dip them , shake off the excess and let them dry a bit. I use the thicker 321 on anything else that gets oil. The 321 doesn't have any solvent so it can be used on anything. I don't like using the 301 on ceram...

Re: Calais 200DC smoothing out?

Gears in reels only hold a very small amount of grease. All excess grease is squeezed out and ends up in a pile beside the the pinion yoke. The correct amount of grease is a light coating down in the teeth. Now, when you think about how little grease is actually on the teeth, maybe you can understan...

Re: Boca Plier Problems?

The slots are only for re-installing pins. Are you using the slot to press pins out? If so, that's to much presure and it will slide off and round over the edge of the slot. Once that happens it's shot.

Re: Anti reverse pawl

Do you have a spinning reel? If so, it has a lever that you can flip which allows you to turn the handle backwards and backplay a fish. If you have ever used that, you will know that if you had it in that mode, and set the hook without having your hand on the handle, it would spin backwards fast and...
