That Falcon Expert Gunsmoke 6'9" L was my first combo with a JDM reel, the OG 2000 Burgundy Shimano Scorpion 1000. That combo with 8lb CXX was magical for 1/4-3/8 Topwaters.

At $75 it is a no brainer.

I like my Abu and Lew's reels, but love my Helios Air reels and the regular Helios ain't half bad.

It seems like you can buy from ebay. Look for a used Daiwa T3 1016. Should have no problem fining one for under $170. Has to be the best beginner reel there is at that price.
