Re: Fastest gear set for the Pixy and Alphas

I have a 7.2:1 gear set in an Airy Red. Plus Ian did a few other things to it.

Re: NEED help choosing a new reel

I’d go with a good condition used OG Steez 103 from one of the Japan sites for around $170 Wouldn't an OG Steez 100 be better? From what I've read the 103 can be hairy with lighter weights unless you change the spool ... The original Steez 103 comes with a Type R+ spool. It is made to handle lighte...

Re: Refreshed 13 concept reels

I picked up a used original Concept A a few years ago. I am not the type of person that notices the little things. I immediately noticed how good this reel felt the first time I mounted it on a rod. It did take me a bit longer than normal to dial in. A fellow member on another forum mentioned he had...

Re: Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula???

For me, fishing is about being outdoors, enjoying the fresh air, and using some cool gear. Catching is actually secondary. It certainly enhances my day if we catch fish, but I don't have to catch fish to have fun. I enjoy appreciating how my gear performs casting and working my lures... I appreciat...

Re: Most forgiving baitcaster

I have the older Excense DC. Not a cheap reel even used, but no thumb needed. For less money look at a Magforce 3D reel. Probably a bit smaller and lighter. They don't need a thumb either with the right set up. Will have to take someone else's word on the SV spooled reels. Haven't tried mine without...

Re: Gulfcoastwader : Feedback Request Topic

I've never bought from or sold to Brad. I did try to give him a few spacers a few years ago. Try being the operative word. I've never asked for money for my spacers as it brings me joy to help a few of my fellow fishermen. However, Brad would have none of that. He sent me more goodies than the space...

Oops. I read the request wrong. Thought it was for Gulfcoastwader, not a reply by him. My apologies.

Re: Fishing4fun : Feedback Request Topic

Good seller. Fast shipper but the delivery service was slow. John spent time on the phone tracking the reel down. Had been sent to the wrong sort facility. Arrived 2 days later. Reel listed a 9 for cosmetic and mechanical as it was used. Just got it so I haven't used it yet, but I would rate cosmeti...

Re: Show off your OG Zillion

This is “The Sleeper”. It started out as my first OG 6.3 Zillion when they were introduced. It has four handle bearings, a level wind bearing, RCS handle, Carbontex, Slp Super High Grip knobs, a Type-R star, and ZR spool bearings, like all of my dozen or so in this platform. I also took off the ano...

Re: Do you keep back up reel

I keep a few new reels in back-up for future use. Do you? Nope, but I do seem to always have a few reels sitting around that are waiting to find their soulmate of a rod and I guess as far as that goes, a few rods sitting around waiting to find their perfect reel. Oh.. and I guess a few that were to...

Re: New vs old greats for cranking.

I am not a reel snob, but do have more Daiwas than any other brand. Along with the OG Steez, OG Zillion, Alphas and TD-Z you might also want to look at a TD-X 103HSDF...or the 100HSDF if really unloading some line. http://tackletour.com/reviewdaiwatdx.html Or possibly the TDA 153HSTA. http://tacklet...
