I use a Berkley silicone rubber net. Had it for about 5 years now and still going strong. Trebles do not get stuck and never had a bass jump out. Don't know if these are available in the USA.

Re: Shimano Rod Guides
Have owned lots of Shimano rods . Clarus, Compre, Crucial, Cumara, Scimitar etc etc. Cheap to expensive. Never had any issues with the guides except where self inflicted with the assistance of my foot, a rod locker or car door.

Re: Freshwater use of large spinning reels
Up until 6 years ago I only used spinning reels for all my bass fishing. My preferred size for most techniques was a 4000. Mostly Sustains and Stradics. I have switched to baitcasters for all my reaction lures now mainly because there is a far wider selection of technique specific baitcasting tackle...

Re: Swapping Handle Knobs for Curado 200e7?
I swopped my Stradic ci4 knobs for Powergrip knobs. So should work the other way around as well.timsford wrote:I've seen a lot of pics of stradic ci4 plus reels with the Eva knob swapped out for the powergrip II knobs

Re: Update on Shimano spinning reel binding issue
Thanks everyone for the replies. Aquaholik that is a good tip. Just out of curiosity is there an interchangeable/updated friction ring I can put on this older reel and does anyone have a part number. What is the purpose of the friction ring and if removed all together does it cause the rotor to fee...

Re: Airrus Rods
nice to see a thread on Airrus rods again 8-) I still have a couple of the original co-matrix rods from the early 2000's. The 7Medium was a recommendation from Ken for spinnerbaits and I've not found anything better ever. Kind of a mix between graphite and glass feel too it. This is a 4 year old th...

I mainly use the various Strike King Jigs. These seem to offer the best value for money.

I use a Cumara 7'2" MH paired with a Excence DC loaded with 50lb braid. The 34 IPT gets the buzzbait to the surface in a hurry.
