Re: 2015 Z-Bone LE XF
if only those new z-bones were as beautiful as an ultima or megabass everybody wants one, because this lexf is possibly the best blank (at the moment) there is.(IMO for that money it should be!!) Customer service is a big turn off, even if they were as beautiful as an MB rod, I wouldn't buy one. Sma...

Re: Sharpening hooks
I keep a sharpening stone on the retractable tool holder that my line clippers are on. I'm always touching up hooks.

Re: Calais DC for $450 out the door
That seems likely. About the only time Shimano allows things to go on sale. Wonder what they'll replace it with?Bootytrain wrote:Does this mean they are discontinuing it?
Great deal on them. If I didn't already own 2 of them, I'd be all over it.

Re: Kistler zbone
I have 12 or 13 NRX's and one custom Z-Bone. The Z-Bone is not as sensitive as the NRX's, but it's close. The blank is not as fast as most of the NRX's, which might explain why it's not quite as sensitive for the deeper baits we generally fish. However, dealing with Kistler getting the rod made was ...

Re: C-rig reel size
Gen2 Premier here. We can break off quite a few c-rigs in a day in our very rocky Ozark lakes, so it's nice to have the extra capacity on the reel.

Re: Revo Premier
I thought the Gen2 was far superior to both Gen1 and Gen3. The paint on it sucked, but the performance was great. Since the Gen3 reels were released, I have moved on to other companies that I feel offer better products on the whole. Another +. AG really messed up with the Gen3 reel. The Gen2 reel w...

Re: nrx 893 vs nrx 853
They are very close. I have some of each and am constantly cycling them through, based on the bait I've got tied on them. I don't really find either more sensitive than the other. But I like the extra tip on the 893 for throwing slightly lighter baits. If I were faced with this decision today, I'd g...

Re: NRX blue vs green
I have several of each. While I prefer the blue wraps from a looks perspective, I like the clear coating on the green ones. Keeps blank "war wounds" from appearing much better than the non-coated blue ones. I notice no difference in sensitivity, and I have some rods in the exact same model, but each...

Re: Help with NRX893 Reel
I've had Calais DC, Steez, Core 50 and a Revo MGX on my 893. Like some of the guys above, I like it best with a Core 50. I'm not sensitive to the balance issue some mention, and I mostly fish 10-25' deep bottom contact baits with it.

Re: Is NRX "dud" possible
It's funny you posted this. I have found the 822S SYR to be by far the least sensitive of all the NRX I own (which is about 10 and counting). Pretty much the same story here. I bought the SYR and DSR NRX spinners at the same time. Love the DSR and use it all the time. But the SYR has just never fou...

Are you stuck on the 7' length? If not, what is the longest you'd own? What kind of fishing/lures are you doing?

Very fun, sensitive and versatile rod. Hard to imagine you not liking, and finding it useful for many different bass presentations.

Re: Helium3 or Glx?
Even in today's world of changing warranty coverage on factory rods...ShimLoomis over Kistler all day, any day in my book. Not to mention longevity of the company, along with support to replace the rod with the SAME or at worst, very much same/like blank years down the road. Agreed. For me, it woul...
