Re: Your favorite 2 lbs test?

2lb. Like I said I have fished it for a while now and have hooked into a ton of fish, weeds , rocks all kinds of stuff and haven't had I break on me yet. Honestly It feels at least a strong as the last 4lb copoly I used. I'm also relatively new to the sport and wouldn't consider myself an expert but...

Re: Your favorite 2 lbs test?

Berkley Nanofil. Hands down the best I have ever used! This line is well... For starters it cast like a bullet. I have fished it For a while now and havent had any problems with knots. I took it up to pyramid lake ( home of trophy monster cutthroats) and I hooked into a couple 24" and didn't have an...

Fishing virgin water with special regulations

Like the title states I'm taking a 5 mile hike in the eastern sierras to Marlette lake. Not many people want to walkthat far for fish and it's said that most fish here have not seen the end of a line. It is a single barbless hook artificial lure only body of water so what lures would you recommend? ...

Re: Help Me Pick My First Finesse Rod

What about Falcon Bucoo 7" med? It feels a tad lighter than it's medium rating suggests.

Re: Fenwick elite tech smallmouth

I really wish the fenwick guys were on top of their game like the Abu Garcia guys. These rods were originally supposed to debut at icast2010 and released in OCT of that year. I haven't seen an exact date but sometime in September I've heard. They haven't gotten the media attention that Abu has eithe...

Re: Ultralight setup?

Im going to second the fenwick river runner in 5'8" its a killer rod for the price! I have an Abu Garcia c400ui mounted on it and it balances beautifully just fore of the reel foot. The reel carries about 100yds of 4 lb line. I was using 4# p-line flouroclear it has awesome knot strength and it cast...

Re: Bait alternatives for trout?

Ahh. What I think happens is the fish bite and pull then the feel the line tension and back off. I was having trouble using eagle claw egg hooks (really tiny) and was yanking bait and all away from the mouth. I switched to a regular bait holder hook and increased hook ups. But the most significant c...

Re: New reels

Whoa!! Let me know how that goes! I have a c400ui and I LOVE it! I would Like to know what you do to yours and how it works out. It is a really light and smooth reel. But I think I would like something sturdier in aluminum to handle more abuse, the orras seem a bit heavy but i will try out the SX10 ...

Re: Berkley Sensation

Good stuff. I use the 4lb in lo vis green. The damn line SHOOTS through the guides and it's great for casting distance! But no so good for wind knots especially with spinning gear. Do you fish in places with a lot of cover weeds or rocks? The reason I ask is because I've noticed It's not very abrasi...

Re: Bait alternatives for trout?

For Artificial baits have you tried Trout Magnet? those work well and can be fished much like a nightcrawler. As for "baits i swear by" Berkley makes jars of earthworms i LOVE those in pink. You can also trya 3" Floating Trout Worm (powerbait?) in bubbegum. They are awesome when wacky rigged on an e...
