Re: 50th build

The 50th is still one of my favorite reels. After a few upgrades from stock, it is nearly bulletproof and stunning.
Awesome job! =D> =D> =D>

I use a late 80s pistol grip set-up to chuck spinnerbaits and paddletails in tight quarters. Also has sentimental value.

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

Most over hyped? Megabass But do I love my "Ninja Epic Proportions Phase IIVVXX Destructo Velociraptor?" Yes I do. 8-) Compile X just left me perplexed, dead in my hands. I don't think Dobyns is over hyped. You get what you pay for. I do agree the guides are mediocre, but I have never been able to b...

Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?

Currently have only 2,but after being frequent on this forum, it seems only appropriate to add more to the collection this year lol MB Hedgehog evoluzion F4st-69RSDti with a tatula LT silver 852s with a stradic ci4+ Wasn't able to justify spending big $$$ on spinning gear but somehow this forum has...

Get the set and replace the set. Tolerances will be better. Keep the old extra gear as a backup.

Re: UL BFS Rod Lengths - please suggest

Just to add to all the great info already given. For me, I don't like my BFS rods to be to "whippy." A decent quality blank is a must. I like light tips, with fast actions, at around 6'6-6'10. I want to be able to react quicker to bites, and have a chance to keep bites away from nearby structure bef...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

This catch was happened a few week backs. A nice 12” crappie on Roadrunner with baby shad. I just started learning how to fish for crappies and this was the first time I found a school of nice size. 73BCE39F-F48F-4FD0-B498-E935A6FEBD49.jpeg Nice fish! The Go Emotion rods are absolute sleepers. I ha...

Re: What have you lost while fishing?

Edward78, when I was about the same age, my folks bought me a green metal tackle box with cantilevered trays that opened to each side. I carefully lined the trays with sheet cork to keep lures from rusting or getting dulled by sliding around. I left it at the side of a trout stream at the edge of t...

Re: Where to purchase JDM blanks?

I haven't seen many people talk about rods being built on JDM blanks on TT. I think Matagi has a few. Rodbuilding.org might be a better site to get more opinions on the best places to get the best blanks. The shipping is too expensive for most. There was lots of info on this when I googled "Japanes...

Re: Graphiteleader ‘18 Corto compared to Corto Nuovo Prototype

Got a few hours out on the water today, not sure how these rods that are so similar are so different at the same time. The ‘18 Corto is very much on the UL spectrum near the top in both reaction and casting. The Nuovo Prototype is more like described in the L spectrum though towards the bottom of t...

Can't wait to hear a report.
They look so similar in so many ways. But the Exist looks good on both. 8-)

Re: ‘18 Corto Graphiteleader 6’10” Trip Report

Good to know that it is more powerful than I thought. It is very interesting to see how the blank transitions flawlessly to a different tip. It does seem ever so slightly tip heavy, after trying four of my current reels. I haven't found the perfect match yet. Might just go lighter with the reel and ...

Re: ‘18 Corto Graphiteleader 6’10” Trip Report

Just got this baby delivered. Boy is it xfast action. Super light, and the tip of the blank is one of the thinnest i've ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that this is going to be one sensitive rod. I would be hesitant to yank it on a snag. Only light hooks and light line on this baby. Can't wa...

Re: Spoon storage and hook swaps...

At least in the bay area, most of us use Kastmasters and Spinners for trout reaction bites.
