Re: Megabass F3st-610XXS vs F3st-610S Stinger Tip Rods

I use the XX stinger shot on Erie for big smallies. Pulled in 4-5 lbers with no issues. Beautiful stick and no problems with sensitivity. If you can find one and you want a casting rod, the X4 hedgehog is nice. If you want a true specialized tip, go the Daiwa Cielo with the titanium tip. =P~

SV103 with braid

Anyone run the SV 103 (OG zillion frame) with braid? Does it have a high speed levelwind? Considering one for a Valdivia mate.

TIA!

Re: Megabass XX Dropshot vs. Stinger Tip for DS and general finesse?

The stinger tip will load very fast, so no issues there. I like a ML stinger tip with open hook (ds, wacky rig, no trailer jigs) presentations. I would go a bit heavier in rod for a Texas rigged plastic like that.

Re: Megabass XX Dropshot vs. Stinger Tip for DS and general finesse?

Haven't fished the dropshot, but have the stinger tip. The solid top is way sensitive, but less versatile. I would only fish single open hook techniques with it. However, it is an awesome DS stick.

Get both. Or get the XX stinger and an addermine.

Re: Drop shot reel

You are right Cal. I was looking at the 2014 series.

Yeah - too bad they offed the 3000S. If it was comparable in weight it would have been the perfect compromise. :(

The C3000S has a 2500 size body ;)

But it weighs over 8oz. The 2500HGS is around 7 and the 2000HGS is under 7. :big grin:

Depends on whether the angler prioritizes weight or line twist reduction.

Re: Drop shot reel

The other consideration is IPT. Faster reels can keep up with smallies coming up the water column...if that is pertinent.

Re: Drop shot reel

I would opt for a 2500HGS or 2000S...less weight. But the 3000S is beautiful. =P~

Regarding line twist - close the bail by hand and that fixes a lot of it...or just hang the bait and let it untwist. Or use a baitcaster.

Re: Drop shot reel

2500 or 3000? I'm going back and forth trying to decide. I normally use a 2500 to fish most bass fishing applications but I see many articles and videos saying that with the larger spool size on the 3000 you get less line twist etc. just looking for more insight on this topic. Thanks Neither for FC...

Re: PhotoBucket has ruined TT

Photobucket hasn't ruined TT. That doesn't even make sense. Maybe for you personally, but as others have stated, there are loads of other apps you can use that remain free. I've never used any of them. I used to get very frustrated with loading pics here until I got it dialed in. I use windows pain...
