Ok i may still give it a go.. I've never had a problem with aluminum gears except in old alphas that had years of use..
I also run a lighter drag than some and use the rod to fight the fish and not just yank and crank like some..

Re: '19 Scorpion MGL 150
Go to eBay or aliexpress and get the spacers needed to use any of the handles made for daiwa or abu reels.. Gives you a ton of more options for handles or knobs also... I've just started using mine and comparing it to the k dc and 13 metanium I'd say it casts everything better than 13 metanium but i...

Does the Curado K or DC have an aluminum gear options
Hello, just wondering if there's options out there to get the weight down on these reels.. I have metaniums with aluminum gears and no issues so figured I'd see if there's aluminum gears for the k frame since i have a k dc and scorpion

Re: Scorpion MGL

I just picked up a k and planned on getting a scorpoin mgl or 2 but I can definitely feel some resistance when reeling. . I know it's a new reel but I've been doubting this plastic peice since I found out that's what...

Newer platform for me.. they're lighter, palm better and perform better...
Nothing wrong with the older 50 platform but I wouldn't trade back..

Re: Suggestions for 1st finesse set up
For a reel I'd recommend either the alphas air or ltx-bf8... both can be found new or lightly used for $250 or a hair over... For rod I'd look into the majorcraft lineups... they have several different options but their MS-X limited is what I had my eye on...they have a 6'5"ul bf or a 6'7"...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels
I picked the $250 to $300 range since that's probably where most of the reels I've owned fall into... I like buying used reels that started out over the $300 price then either with sales or being used fall into the sweet spot... I've only paid over $300 twice I believe... a new Zonda Rosso and a mgx...
