i don't know if it will work for you but i like the bass pro johnny morris spinning reels. i use a smaller size but they make a large reel and they are around $100.

Re: What should I buy?
i have used the bass pro johnny morris baitcaster and i love it. it is like $170 and has 10 bearings. a real nice reel. i also use the spinning real to. super smooth drag on both reels. i think you would have to spend $300 to get 10 bearings on other reels.

Re: Lindy Fish Handeling Glove?
I have a lindy glove and man i love it. in my bass tournament we can not use nets. the lakes we fish are loaded with pike and pike love spinnerbaits. i keep the glove handy and lip every single pike i catch. i never lost a finger yet.

Re: Power Pro for pitching?
i used stren when it 1st came out. IT said it worked great on spinning reels and that and all it did after ever four casts was knot up on me and you had to cut the line to fix the porblem.

Re: Bass spawning
It all depends on weather and the water clartiy and deep of the lake you are fishing. A small stained pond warms up faster then a small clear pond.
In northern IL i start catching them at the end of april at the earliest and the end of may at the latest.
