Re: Are you using any Chinese manufactured reels?

To be honest I was talking about spinning reels. There these brands give you more features for the same price and they work. They might not be as smooth or light, but they get the job done and affordable. Casting reels are a bit different. I do not have any chines ones, but friends and my father hav...

Re: Are you using any Chinese manufactured reels?

Chinese reels from Aliexpress are popular in my country due to price. I have experience with Tsurinoya and Ecooda. Tsu is probably the most popular here and most of their models are decent budget reels. Same experience with Ecooda, they are also decent reels. Also do not need to overthink it, high e...

Re: Spinning Reel Cleaning

If it is a shielded, closed bearing, I just wipe it clean, do not touch the inside if it works fine. If it is noisy, I just replace it. If it is open, you can easily clean it a regrease.

Re: Calcutta Conquest SE

There are plenty of versions, lol.
1. BFS
2. 30 size spool (this one)
3. Regular version 100-200-300-400 size (300-400 might not be sold anymore)
4. Monster Drive (300-400 size)
5. DC version (100-200 size)

I'm not sure if all of them are still on sale, but these are the variations I'm aware.

If that is a new Calcutta...it doesn't look much different than the current generation, and also there is no mention of MM gears?
The pictures are all the 2012 modell, there is no info there other than saying there might be a new modell next year. No info on the reel.

Mine has hook rash on it from just using it, but never had a single bite. Probably doing something wrong with it... I really wanted to like it, but no luck. Probably will continue to try it, I wanna catch at least one fish with it

Re: Why Are (Most) BFS Rods Are 2 Piece Rods?

I think it is both. I feel like US is the only place where people prefer 1 piece rods. One piece rods are preferred when you have a nice boat with rod locker and the transportation is not an issue. Most people do not have that imho. Also BFS is coming from trout fishing and the multi piece setup is ...

Re: 2 Piece Casting Rod 7'0 - 7'6"??

While an interesting option, a grip joint rod won't suffice for my needs. That's disheartening to hear about Megabass, but I suspected as much. Considering the Megabass price point I imagine other multi piece rods I've seen from Diawa & others priced lower are made in China as well. Somehow I have ...

Stability is it not?

Spool to pinion stability and alignment.
This is my take as well and I trust the long spool shaft reels more than the short ones for that reason.

Spool shaft is in the center of the spool, the weight there won't have big effect on the cast imho.

Re: Do you plan on buying the iPhone of reels aka the Z Limitbreaker?

no need any kind of stats tracking crap. It is interesting that we can be so different. I would love to get stat tracking in every one of my reels. I never went for a DC reel before as normal brakes were working just fine. On the other hand I would love to analyze my fishing sessions. In the future...
