Re: Daiwa Steez AGS QC
My first cast with “The One” the metal ring at the top of the handle slid up the blank. Had to glue it so I could keep fishing the rod that day… luckily I had some with me!

Re: Deep-X 300
Use the deep-x 300 and deep-six for cranking Lake St. Clair in the fall. Mat tiger is my favourite colour. Don’t know if the colour is still available as it doesn’t show on the megabass USA website.
Great bait.

Re: Clacutta te 201 vs te 201gt
The GT only came in a right hand model and it had a smaller line cap, whiffle spool and drilled crossbar.
I think a few more bearing too but I can’t recall for sure.
I have the GT and I don’t regret ever buying it! Still use it today!

Re: Small paddle tail rod… 76 preferred
The Expride is a good choice but if your budget is a bit more limited you could go with a 7 foot 6 L rod from the newest Curado series from Shimano. I have one and it's one of those '' The ONE rod''. How I’d the action of this rod? Could it handle 3/8 plus a roughly 3in plastic? Occasionally fish 3...

GLX 892s vs 893s
I love the 893c so I’ve been looking at the spinning version recently. I’m also intrigued by the 892s. Not much in reviews other than that they’re great tube rods or deep water rods. I have a bunch of 7’6” medium powered rods already and 7’ medium heavy rods. Are these rods worth adding to the lineu...

Re: Who even buys Quantum reels these days?
I have a Tour Mg that’s held up pretty good. Love the flippin switch option on it. Still very smooth. Good drag. And very light.
I don’t think I’d buy a new quantum reel but the smoke HD was intriguing at the time

Re: ML bottom contact rod recommedation
Haven’t tried that expride so no comment on it. But my recommendation is the Legend Elite 7’6” MLXF. My favourite ML rod and the rod I have fished the most the last two years. Incredible feel to it.

Re: St. Croix Legend Xtreme 2020
I’m tempted to pull the trigger but just like the assumed consensus, the price is tough to justify - it’s just a lot of money!
I’d love to try the 7’6” M to compare to the legend elite or the 7’3”ML. Some day maybe

Re: NRX+ 901S SJR - What are you main uses for this rod? Comparisons to other rods.
Because of their feedback, I went with the legend elite 7’6” MLXF and the Steez 7’6”, because I already had the feider tatula elite 7’6” for hair. What did you hope the Legend Elite rod would do or be that would differentiate it from the Tatula Elite? Have you had a chance to determine whether the ...

Re: NRX+ 901S SJR - What are you main uses for this rod? Comparisons to other rods.
I believe the 901 excels for hair jigs and spy baits. Like mentioned in another comment, baits that stay in the water column. A few of my buddies have the 901 and it’s all they use it for: hair jigs and spy baits and sometimes 2-3” swimbaits, all with 5lb. braid. Because of their feedback, I went wi...

Re: NRX+ 803JWR vs IMX 783MBR for a "Do it all"
I agree with what’s been said already: NRX not as versatile as the MBR. I have the 783MBR (Conquest) and the rod feels so much more versatile than my NRXs.
Like Hulkster said, maybe try the 843 and go up to the 7’ rod.

Re: Brand Loyalty?
I used to think I had to be  I tried to keep all my rods a certain brand and all my reels the same brand and got rid of anything that didn’t fit those groups. I grew out of that once I started working at a tackle shop. My favourite reel of all time is my Abu Garcia Eon. I love the look of the A...

Re: Preferred Wacky Rig Setup? NRX/Megabass
Weightless senko (4”-5”) = 893c (GLX, E6X, NRX) I love the 7’5” length and MH power for throwing senkos. Long casts… power… my choice when fishing around docks with light weeds, shallow water and reeds. Wacky senko (4”-5”) = medium/medium-heavy power spinning rod I don’t throw it wacky style unless ...
