Re: New St. Croix

Great rod! Haven't tried any of the newer generations of the Legend Tournament Bass but I'm guessing they're pretty awesome still!

Re: New Orvis Muskie and King Salmon Rod

That's a sweet rod! Good choice on the 10wt. for ski's. Definitely more versatile and less troublesome on the shoulders.

Which reel will you be running?

It's a lot of fun! Starting off with panfish would be a great way to get into it

I've tried a lot of other high-end rods (Hardy Zenith, G.Loomis NRX) but Sage just feels better. There's something different. What kind of custom do you recommend? Which blank?

Re: NRX 852c vs NRX 852s

Just need to confirm these blanks are the same used with casting and spinning. Also for those who have the 842s how is it for small jerkbaits? Thanks for any info... The 842S works well for a lot of applications. The smallest jerkbaits I've thrown on it have been a Megabass X-80 Trick Darter and a ...

Re: NRX Help.

Talking with a buddy who has tried a few I'd lean 894c. I grabbed an 854c for my 1/2oz jig work since like you said, my 3 powered NRX had a 3/8 sweet spot. I was told the 894 has more power than the 854 and the 854 is a wicked 1/2oz jig rod. I thought about the 895 as well but was told it was a bro...

Re: Smoothest Baitcaster

The smoothest reel I've fished so far has been my Calcutta TE200GT. It'll crank in anything without any problem… 1oz. spinnerbaits, deep diving cranks like the deep-six and deep-x 300, and swimbaits (biggest I've tried has been the 8" BBZ-1). My Calcutta DC/Calais DC/Calais 200A are pretty smoo...

Re: Opinions on a new DS rod

Definitely the NRX 822S DSR would be my choice even if used (with the budget of $350 you most likel will have to).

Incredible rod. Unbelievable sensitivity. I fished it with a CI4 1000FML and 10lb. Nanofil but I'll be trying it with a CI4+ 3000F and 6lb. fluoro this year
