Re: Daiwa Fuego Ct or Shimano SLX

Would you care to share what you did with the fuego ct? How do you think it will hold up in Saltwater, with of course the proper maintenance afterwards. It's very exciting to me that something in the $60 range can be tweaked and upgraded. I like doing tweaks. In my case it was a complete teardown t...

Re: Daiwa Fuego Ct or Shimano SLX

Well, Ive had the Fuego CT, and was able to turn it into a killer smooth and casting machine. Same here. I got mine late in the season last year and against my normal "unbox it, tear it down and build it up to my specs" routine I put it right into service as a cranking reel. I was very im...

Here's a link to Smooth Drags PDF file of available pre made washer sets, or call (760) 949-0271 and ask them directly. You will not find better customer service than Dawn =D>

Reference my take on drag performance in this thread, it may (or may not) be relevant to your situation.

Re: Faulty Drag On Daiwa Tatula SV TWS?

It's possible that grease from assembly has contaminated the drag washer. Greased drags can slip at lower thresholds than dry ones. I would check for that first before condemning the drag altogether.

You DO have backing below that braid, correct ?

Re: Do you use a dremel?

Great tool to have. Every workbench should have one. I have a Proxxon, which is a German made rotary tool. Mine's going on 10 years old and still runs as well as the day I got it. It get a lot of use.

Disclaimer: *not cheap* https://www.bocabearings.com/products/fishing-spool-pin-pliers-21933 Ran across these this week. No idea how well they work, guy in the YouTube video I watched looked like he was struggling a bit. With that said, I already bent the screw in rod on the Hedgehog I just bought....

Re: Finding a "Light" BFS rod???

I just picked up this Taranis CX inshore rod on Cabelas website for under $55 shipped. It says med-light power, but rated 1/16-1/2 oz lures. I am hoping it will do power-finesse well, plus its not a bad-looking rod. Or it might be closer to medium power and fish small spinnerbaits and chatterbaits ...

Re: Bearing size

I need to know the pinion (the pinion sits in) and “drive?” bearing (located on the outside of the anti reverse bearing) bearing size for the Diawa Tatula CT 100HS, I’ve upgraded to ceramics for the spool bearings but not sure the size of these 2 bearings. Since the spool bearings are the only bear...

Re: Interesting experience with the xf50

I bought an XF-50 a while back. It needed help out of the box, but with a spool bearing upgrade, drag upgrade and a complete teardown/clean/tune it's surprisingly a capable little reel, actually a bit beyond my expectations. I've caught about a dozen bass on it over the course of a few trips, the bi...

Re: Spoon storage and hook swaps...

Question regarding using these spoons with such light line......do you feel a split ring or oval split would be a good option to tying directly to the spoon? I would think so ... I don't even like tying to split rings with small diameter line, I prefer to tie around a single diameter of round stock...

Here's a decent deal on Rat-L-Trap 1/8 oz Tiny Trap factory blemish baits. Lot of 5 for under $8.00. I rolled the dice on some and just got them. The finishes are definitely not first quality but I have no doubt they'll get bit. They come bare without hardware but the seller throws hooks and split r...

Re: New member with a question

Super Lube is fine, but unless you're repairing reels for a living there's no need to buy a bulk tub. A 3 oz tube will last you many years. If you have a Harbor Freight nearby they carry them for about $7.00 https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71eI%2Bq45ecL._AC_UL320_SR240,320_.jpg
