Thanks.

Thanks. Does the bearing under the spool tension cap do the same thing as the X ship bearing on the handle side of the pinion gear?

Re: New Antares MGL

Gear material should be brass like the previous Antares model. I noticed that the newest Antares has 11 ball bearings. I have fished Shimano reels with only 4 ball bearings for years, with no problems. Is Shimano using more bearings now because bearings are less expensive than they were in the past?

Re: Rocket Fuel Grease

Really thick oil for the frame bearings, thinner oils for spool bearings. So what kind of "thick" oil do you recommend? I just add two drops, instead of one, to my frame bearings. It's more to be sure there is plenty of oil, since those bearings don't spin at a high rate, but they do get ...

Zimbass wrote:The average angler does not worry about the free spin time of their spool bearings, so any oil, 3in1 machine oil especially, will be fine.

For those on TT, the oil is of paramount importance, as it is a test of how well the tech serviced your reel !!

Cheers.

Terry.

Thanks.

Re: Best grease and oil for servicing reels. 2019 edition.

I have this stupid or weird question that popped out in my mind, but it's kinda realistic though. Are gun oil/lubes like in this review: https://gunnewsdaily.com/reviews/best-gun-cleaning-kits/ can be used in servicing/cleaning reels? I just wanted to be practical. I'm a pro hunter and I love fishi...

Re: Is a bent spool shaft repairable?

Not what I wanted to hear guys! I don't know if I have the heart to take pliers to it, I might just hang it from my work lamp as a reminder to pay closer attention when I am fussing with spools. I assume I could strip the inductor parts off and make a Magforce-Z Ray's spool, correct? And as a...

Re: Is a bent spool shaft repairable?

I would think it would cost more to try and get it straightened than it would to replace it. Spools are so well balanced that I doubt you'd ever get it truly straight again.

That is a smart idea.

Re: What is your prefered reel for jerkbaits

If there is anything I have noticed, jerkbait gear seems to be very very different from person to person. Gear ratio? I have used and 7.3:1, 6.2:1 and 6.4:1. I much prefer a slower ratio as I am more concerned with presentation than I am with picking up slack. I use braid as a mainline so too fast ...

Re: Concept Z lubrication

Matt, Do I need to oil the Z bushings, and, if so, how often? How often should I grease the gears? Thanks in advance, Mark P.S. I hope you are having a nice holiday season. The Z Bearings will break themselves in and after that they should require very little lubrication. I use INOX lubrication on ...

Try looking here: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/35244-hilite-coating/ Looks great man! Those violet hues have always worked well for me in our Wisconsin waters. 8-) It is easy to do. Just keep adding coats, dried in between, until you get the effect you want. I thought about addi...
