Re: Removing Paint

I am just a hobby bait maker, and use water-based air brush paints. If I want to strip a bait down to plastic, to get a clear bait to paint, I sand and scrape most of the paint off. Then I do a quick dip in clean acetone (quick or it will melt the bait's plastic) and proceed with painting. If I jus...

You are allowed to reel a slower reel faster too. It’ll be the next revolutionary discovery in bass fishing.

Re: Chatterbait reel

Prefer the lower gears. More torque when retrieving and less resistance. I understand that. It makes sense. I have a bunch of 7.0/1 baitcasters that I use for just about everything, including punching. For moving baits, I usually reel just fast enough to feel the crank wiggle, or the chatterbait sh...

Prefer true low ratio for resistance baits. Not a fan of the ultra high gear ratio craze. What a world we are living in when 6.3:1 is considered a low ratio. [-(
I agree. I remember when that was blazing fast.

Re: Removing Paint

Anyone have any advice on what to use to remove paint from lures? That Lucky Craft Paint is some tough stuff! Been using 90% iso alcohol mixed half and half with water. It works, but I’ve had a few of my used lures crack and fall apart. No issues with new lures, but still looking for something that...

Re: Zillion Type R driveshaft modification

Awesome work! I think you're ready to make some 8.1 gear sets for TDZs. :big grin: It's funny you say that...i just got my first lefty last week (that I did my first shaft mod to) so I haven't even had the pleasure of enjoying the 7.1 gear set in a tdz! I've been joking with a designer and a CNC gu...

I use a calcutta 100d.
Its got a 5.9:1 gears.
I want to try the Bantam MGL PG or the Engetsu 100PG.
I like a slower gear so I can run it deeper.
Couldn't you just reel it slower?

Fireline in general is a cult-classic in the Midwest for spinning reels and the Ultra 8 takes it to another level.
Do I need to start wearing a robe, Puka bead necklace and sandals?...

Not at all. It’s amazing performance on a spinning reel and 100% what I’d recommend it for. Fireline in general is a cult-classic in the Midwest for spinning reels and the Ultra 8 takes it to another level.
Thanks.

Let's be honest... Its probably better than cooking oil... Probably...

Stains plastics and have seen some severely worn parts from the grease too...
I've never tried it on a spinning reel, just on baitcasters in fresh water. Maybe that's why I haven't had bad results.

Re: New fireline fused 8 carrier

I was wondering if it would coil on a spinning reel's spool, and jump off, like fluoro can and does.

It dries up, gets gummy and loses lubricity over time. It attracts and holds solid particles. It stains the paint on most reels.
Okay. Thanks.
I've been using it for a long time, and, other than the red color, I've never noticed it getting gummy or dirty. I'll check my reels for that now.

Why don't people like Hot Sauce?

Is there something wrong with it, or does it just not work?

Re: So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

Maybe they're hoping to make enough from selling those reels to subsidize their real business.
