I'd agree 1/8oz is the upper fringe of BFS.

Re: This poor reel

I've noticed a lot of reels coming used from Japan look like hammered sh*t.

Re: ultra light casting rod?

I'd say the 652ul is more suited for bass than trout. Much faster than a typical SUL trout rod.

Re: ultra light casting rod?

I have the 662 Teton UL. It is a rod that is decent for small moving baits like spinners, small open hooked swimbaits and crankbaits. I wouldn't expect it to be too good with plastics and jigs. It lacks a serious tip or much of a solid backbone for setting the hook.

Re: 2017 Shimano Soare Ci4+ S408UL-S Ajing rod

5oz for a Shimano reel?? That is totally killer. I have a bunch of small Shimano reels. The 5oz threshold has traditionally been unattainable as far as a quality Shimano reel goes. It is nice to see them offer a tiny reel with the features of the 1000/2500 series reels. Generally the 500's have alwa...

Re: UL/L Spinning Combo

I am a big fan of the 1000 size of Shimanos. I run a few Ci4 Stradic as well as a couple of JDM models. I have one of the coveted Soare 1000's and a Sahara 500HG. I catch a lot of big bass on these reels....up to 7 or so pounds in my Fl. waters but they handle 3 and 4 lb fish easily. If you are comf...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

I couldn't put together a better rod for 62.00 shipped like this. I know the build quality is very good. It is a Chinese assembled rod that uses Japanese components. I own 4 Kuying rods. I have both Teton Trout rods, a UL and a MH/H casting rod. I am a Major craft guy but refuse to leave my high dol...

Re: $100 china UL BFS combo

Meh...........none of those cheap reels from Alli impress me at all. The rod might be ok but you likely can do better as far as proven quality for 100.00.

Re: I've been busy getting some ul cranks together

I only admire my JDM rods and reels but they get fished. These baits will get fished and I'm sure a couple will find their way to you. I might be in the market for a couple of those small blade baits.

Re: I've been busy getting some ul cranks together

I have noticed they are so much easier to unhook from panfish and fish with small mouths.

Re: I've been busy getting some ul cranks together

No method to my madness except that the tail hook has to be point upward. I had asked Bill if it mattered. He got me "into" single hooks. We can't agree that there is much of a difference in which way the front hook faces. I assumed if the hook point was facing the tail, the bait might be ...

I've been busy getting some ul cranks together

I got into painting baits with my copic airbrush system. Because I wanted to make it as hard as it could possibly be(sarcasm), I decided to shoot UL sized baits. http://i.imgur.com/Pszsoxj.jpg The bottom left popper is a 1/8oz Sugoi mini splash, it is ultra rare. The others are a 1/8oz Pop X KO that...

Re: Best finesse popper?

The popper on the bottom left is a Sugoi Mini. All the other are Mega Bass PopX ko's in 2" 1/8oz size that I painted myself and added Decoy and Cultiva hardware to.

These are real floating worms, designed to float out of the bag, not simply when the salt wears off:

I've caught fish in clear water on it when I used it but by no means am I an expert.
