Re: Midwest Finesse Jig Heads
The Do It mold is significantly different from the Zman head.
I like the more compact head of the Zman and I think that makes the fall a little different.
I prefer the welded keeper to the Do-It insert

Re: Line for BFS
I have benn using 4 and 6lb Nanofil on at least one of my BFS outfits for about a year now. I like it. I wrote a little about it in this reel review...... http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=82570 Interesting. I have read repeatedly that nanofil is awful for baitcasters. How are the back...

Re: 1st time. BFS Aldebaran: Quick braid vs fluro question
I use 4 and 6lb Nanofil on one of my casting outfits. The problem with lines like this is that they are supposed to be completely round lines and when you get a backlash, they tend to dig into the spool. That said, I've tuned my reel in well and haven't had this issue with Nanofil. I'm using Samurai...

Re: cardiff
I think they are pretty much the same and have at least some plastic internals I know a lot of guys who fish large swimbaits that are using 300 series Cardiffs. They are a relatively inexpensive option for that but they will fail at some point with the big stuff. If you are looking a reel for large...

Re: Shimano soare ci4+ 500s question
I've got to imagine it's all the same parts being assembled to the same specs. Probably little to no difference at all.... especially with a huge company like Shimano.

Inshore Slam from yesterday with the Top Caster.... I tried to spool the reel with 12lb Nanofil, I kept breaking it trying to tighten the 7 wrap bimini to fluoro connection.......went back to the 14lb and I didn't have any issue. https://i.imgur.com/G08rlCP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3fzY0Ya.jpg https:...

Re: $100.00 BFS Challenge
A little bit of an update for you. I got the Spirit Fox spool in the mail today. I weighed it and the XF50 BFS spool.............. https://i.imgur.com/sAkT6nz.jpg The Spirit Fox weighed in at 9.4 grams with a spool bearing attached. That is in the realm of official BFS standard as far as what the hi...

I also have the Rainforest which is a 702M spin, it is pretty much the same rod but has a cork front grip. Same components and price. Then there is the Tournament which is a MH blank with MH and heavy tips. My guess is that they are all the same nomenclature in different powers. They likely could ma...
