Where in PA are you fishing?arbogastjunkie wrote:I hear you....I just moved down to PA recently. I have fished a local resrvoir that rents boats about four times now and all I have to show for it is one dink. I dont know what it is, I just cannot figure this place out. Frustrating is a kind way of putting it.

Re: So many lures - so little time
I usually wade with one rod - a 6' St. Croix Legend Elite and Shimano Sedona (2500FB) reel (spinning). Yeah I know, the rod far outclasses the reel, but out of all the reels I tried this one balances best with the rod. It will be time to upgrade my reel for this rod as I have pretty much worn the re...

Re: Another fine day on the River
Good deal on finding those cooler water Smallies - the temps are dropping here and the smallie action has really slowed down.
Do you find that a slower presentation helps?
Are the fish still in the fast water or have they moved to deeper holes for you?

I guess I need a few more rods, LOL
I have been doing a lot of wading so the multi rod thing is not an option

So many lures - so little time
I fish a lot - like almost every day right now. I have piles of lures (not even lclose to what the members here have however :o ) and I fish with a few guys who have even more lures. I find that I rarely use all but four or five different lures in any given day and usually fish either my own handmad...

Re: Quick braid question.
I was also wondering if I should put mono backing on my reel. For me that all depends on the capacity of the reel and type of fishing that I plan to do with it. The backing does a few things: As you let line out, the diameter of the spool decreases (duh!) this changes the ratio. For say offshore bo...

Re: Quick braid question.
I have used all three and each has there advantages and disadvantages ( I know, this does not really help)
I like Power Pro, I am used to it, get a really smooth cast and it last forever.

Re: Stupid is as stupid does
I second the opinion that it broke your 8lb test line unless there was a weak spot or kink in the line. You have to remember that a fish in the water (even a giant fish) is buoyant, this means that you are not getting the dry weight of the fish. It is possible (and often done) to catch giant fish on...
