Reel feel: Smooth vs. Light rotation

After many years of conversations with anglers and reading posts on this site, I wanted to try and define "smooth" and light rotation. I feel many people use the word smooth to define light rotation. Here is my attempt to define both. Webster definitions for smooth: - having an even and regular surf...

Re: Wondering if there's a superseding part available?

We still have both of these parts in stock. Do you know who you spoke to? Yes many parts are discontinued for the FH models, but it doesn't mean every part is discontinued. The CS person should have looked up the parts  I will discuss this with the CS teams and if you let me know who the culpr...

Re: Difference between CU100D and CU100DSV and a gear ?

The 100DSV had a brass drive gear and a deeper spool. The regular 100D had an aluminum drive gear and the shallower Low Mass spool (pre MGL spool).

Yes the BNT1325 will work on those reels with other pinion gears like the CH50MG, CU100B, CU100D reels.

Re: Stradic FL plastics

That's how the Stradic has been for a long time. There is more support in the Aluminum now compared to past models. We have never seen an issue with the reels and they are very rigid.

Re: Hell of a job Shimano Peterborough

When we do not have parts we will not service the reel. There are some small things that can get lost or be damaged when the reel is disassembled. We can also feel the reel before opening it and determine the gears may need replacement. If we do not have them, we cannot repair the reel. The Stella F...

Re: Hell of a job Shimano Peterborough

We used to have a plastic shim for the Calais. It could be trimmed to fit the shape of the foot and used between the foot and reel seat. They have been discontinued now for a few years. We suggest annual service on all of our reels. It helps the reels last longer as well. On the next Stella I sugges...

Re: Curado 70 spool tension loosening on its own

A lot of times you can remove and reinstall the o-ring and it will give more tension. The o-ring is there for a seal, not really to provide tension to the knob. I use our ACE 2 grease on the threads on all of our casting reel knobs. This seems to take care of the problem and further seal from water ...

Just change the bearing. It's cheap insurance.

Re: Cruxis 200 issues after servicing

Change the anti reverse bearing. Take the pawl off for the back up anti reverse and toss it in the trash. It is a back up should the primary fail. They can get bent and/or worn and cause noises and binding issues. I remove them on my reels that have them. The newer models outside of reels used in sa...
