Re: Megabass rods keep breaking while casting
Last year around this time I posted (http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=84969&p=684762#p684762) my issues with MB Destroyer Daemos rods. In a (2) day stretch I broke one swinging a 2lb fish in the boat and the following day another swinging a 2.5lber. Both about 2/3 of the way up the ro...

Re: The search for one (Lipless) Megabass Orochi xx EMTF vs Destroyer Javelin
I don't own nor have I used a Javelin. Have quite a few Gen 1 XXs, including multiple EMTFs, DSRs and FSSs. Also have thrown lipless baits on MB Black Jungle Deep Crank Slow Rolling. For my lipless fishing (scattered to heavier grass), I don't like the FSS, DSR or EMTF. The MB Black Jungle Deep Cran...

Re: What's your rod lineup for this year
At the moment here is what I have, or at least what I remember putting in the boat a few weeks ago... Casting (3) MB Destoyer FMJs (1) MB Destoyer Daemos (Had 2 others, but they broke on back2back outings) (1) MB XX Gen 1 DSR (Needs new guide) (2) MB XX Gen 1 EMTF (1) MB XX Gen 1 Flatside Special (2...

Re: Destroyer Valdivia as EMTF compliment?
I would reach out to Gary at the Tackle Trap. I’m sure he has plenty of hands-on experience with both rods. He has always been spot on when describing/recommending rods IMHO.

Thoughts MB XXX Mat Bucker
Just curious on folks experience with the MB XXX Mat Bucker rod. I know its listed as a Frog rod, I'm just wondering what else folks have used it for. When I look at the specs (3/8-3) and MF taper, I could see throwing spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, spooks and swimbaits. Also, how is this se...

Surplus (or dearth for that matter) is a mindset!

Re: What is your favorite frog?
I'm a below average frog fisherman (at least in terms of confidence if not ability). One of my partners on the other hand is a pretty good frog fisherman who almost always throws a frog in the course of a day spent fishing for largemouth. We both prefer a Spro poppin frog.

Re: Do you guys always use reel covers and rod sleeves?
Rod sleeves only. Keep them on in rod locker to prevent tangles and damage. When the rod goes to the deck the sleeve comes off and stays in the locker. I have a foam based handle system to put the rod 'butts' in, this prevents reel damage.

Re: what is the best one stop shop crankbait rod?
I've thrown the Strike King 1.5 squarebills all the way up to a 6XD on a Dobyns 765 CB Glass. Works good for the 6XD in situations where the grass isn't very heavy (i.e. Not a great rod to rip a 6XD out of heavier grass). Not sure I'd attempt throwing an 8XD with it though.

Re: Swim Jig Rod Suggestion
I've thrown 1/4-3/8 swim jigs with MB Destroyer Daemos, XX DSR & EMTF, older Powell Max 734 & 765. If the XX EMTF isn't too long for you, I highly recommend it. I've thrown swim jigs from 1/8 to 7/16 with it. Light wire or heavier wire (depending on the cover). With a light wire hook, the fish hook ...

Re: Your most versatile rod?
Probably my Powell Endurance 765 range = 3/8-3oz - This is listed in the specs for usage on the site: Heavier Jigs, TX Rigs, Senkos, Spinnerbaits - This is the description on the site: Whether you’re slow-rolling a deep ledge with a hefty spinnerbait, throwing a big topwater around isolated treetop...

Your most versatile rod?
This has probably been asked before, but what is the most versatile rod in your current rod line-up and what have you used with it? I'll start... Megabass XX Gen 1 EMTF - Its the best rod I've owned for swim jigs (1/4-3/8), swimbaits (keitech style) on a jighead (1/4-3/8), weightless senkos and fluk...
