Rod Question

All - I recently purchased a Daiwa SLT30-2SPD Sealine Tournament reel and am looking for a rod to pair it with. I'll be using this setup to fish for Albacore as well as humboldt squid. I noticed in Zander's review of this reel that he paired it with a Seeker rod. Any recommendations on which model? ...

Re: G.Loomis Rod w/ Saltiga 15?

Thanks. I have the pro blue PBR844C. Its a solid rod - good feel. I'll try out your suggestion. That curado & the escape rod may pan out...

Re: G.Loomis Rod w/ Saltiga 15?

Thanks for the reply. I'd be fishing primarily for rockcod and lings. Last time I went out with my problue & saltiga 30 - it felt like such an overkill...

I have a G Loomis (ETR84-3MC-14) escape travel rod (3 piece) w/ a curado 200 dhsv - would that work?

G.Loomis Rod w/ Saltiga 15?

Hi All -

I'm currently using a Saltiga 30 with the GLoomis Pro Blue. I picked up a Saltiga 15 for lighter duty saltwater and was wondering what GLoomis rod to pair it up with. I was thinking of the PR844C (popping) rod, but open to opinions and suggestions.

Thanks in advance...

Where to buy cheap bar jigs?

Anyone know where I can purchase diamond bar jigs (or a generic equivalent) online? I left a lot of lead at the bottom my last trip out - those jigs from Pline are pricey and add up after awhile... I'd like to find a better deal online, than in a store...

Thanks

Trout capable?

Again searching the boards for more advice...

Bought a rod / reel setup primarily for bass & light duty saltwater. Wondering if I could go trout fishing with this setup...

G. Loomis Escape 3 piece travel rod ETR84-3MC-14 and the Curado 200 dshv

Thanks,

Paul

asking before i buy this time...

All - Looking for some good advice. Returning to the fishing scene after a long hiatus. Folks here said I might have gone a bit overboard with my saltwater setup, so I'm asking for advice first. What rod / reel combo do you guys suggest for bass, trout fishing / light duty saltwater? Like a casting ...

Re: Forum thoughts on my rod/reel combo

Thanks for the reply JIP -

What kind of line do you recommend? Most sportfishing outfits wont allow braided line, so I was thinking of using Spiderline Super Mono 20lb test. Your thoughts?

Forum thoughts on my rod/reel combo

All - Its been a while since I've been out on the bay fishing. Recently got hooked on it again and purchased a new rod/reel combo. What do you guys think? Did I overkill it? I'd be fishing 90% saltwater, looking for lings, rockfish, etc. Here's my combo: g.loomis PBR 844C with a Daiwa Saltiga SA30.
