Re: Top Water rod for 1ozers

I always had a thing for glass. When you absolutely need a do all treble hook rod IMHO I don't know. IMHO It's not much fun for walking baits or anything where the rod is used to impart the action. It’s glass but does seem like it. NuGlas is more like it. Honestly if you’ve got to give it a shot

Re: Pre , During and Post Cold Front Techniques

I fish Seminole, so it could be considered not really Florida, but man, when the cold fronts first start like now, the bite goes off. Many mornings of 25lb+ limits by 8AM with 25mph north winds and dropping temps. They seem to school up on edges of vegetation and the bites usually come quick. We us...

Re: TDZ 100M and SV Light

Had a chance to take the SV Light Ltd out on a expride 6’10” rod. I can honestly say i did not see this reel in my hands for long. I bought it in a whim but was not up to speed on the fact that it has a 32mm spool ( I think I could still be wrong. What I am positive about is that it won’t accept a S...

Re: Top Water rod for 1ozers

The St. Croix 7,4” glass rod is a heck of a rod. Mine is paired with a TDZ-M with a zillion hlc spool and 12 or 14lb floro I think twelve and I’ve done everything but crank on this setup. The ILoud is great with this rod. I’ve thrown 3/4 Oz traps and compared to My original laminglas rod this one is...

Re: What are you cranking with?

I have a couple of old school Calcutta 100DC 5.8:1 reels. I added the longer 200/250 handles to them... super sexy reels. awesome. what line is that? nice dark green colour to it as well. Big Game? Thanks! That’s Sunline Defier, IMHO, the best cranking line available. What line size? Considering th...

Re: What are you cranking with?

I had a surprise gifting of the 7’4”
I’m not a braided line guy for cranks but I like floro. Makes a lot of sense to me that deep cranking isn’t really a Florida thing but I wish I would have known that years ago. DT10’s are my top off cranks and I’d like to get better at them.

I have one. Nice all around M+ rod. Throwing 3/8-1/2 oz spinnerbait is my fav then 4.5 inch shad tails, some bottom contacts.
What are you throwing for bottom contact baits and how well is it in the sensitivity area?

Best high end umbrella rig rod?
Power Versatile is all you’ll ever need. It has the backbone to cast yet parabolic enough not to rip out hooks, thin or medium gauge.
