Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

Its probably due to several years of neglect. The lubricant (oil / grease) separated and the filler material dried/burned up and also probably got contaminated with dirt. This may have caused abrasion around the raceway (rough polishing effect), which causes the balls to skid and not rotate properly...

Re: Tatula Elite AGS M/MH for Jerkbait?

I kayak fish, and use to own the AGS rod you mentioned. It worked great for light 3/16 to 3/8 jigs. It also did fine working a Pointer 100sp, but it's not a jerkbait rod. I would look for something else.

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Cool gear! What is with the spool on that aldeberan? Look like the ported holes are uneven Thanks. It's a KTF 1st gen spool for the 16 Aldebaran BFS. They couldn't port the spool where the FTB magnetic brake is located. It looks like the 2nd gen spool isn't ported, and allows a more controlled, eas...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Here's my first Shimano combo. Not the greatest pics, but it's still cold out.

Can't wait to see how this rod compares to my other ML casting rods.

Re: Can anyone compare the NRX 852 and dx702?

I have the previous generation of the DX702C, and only use it for bottom contact presentations (Ned, tube, finesse worm). Used it once on a river float with a RC 0.5 and some smaller jerkbaits, but didn't care for using them on that rod.

It wouldn't be my first choice for the Vision 110.

One of my fishing heroes, when I was a kid. Still have a couple of packets of his Guido bug. He's in a better place.

Here's a link to the new BFS Ultima. It's coming out in April. It's got an extra fast action.

Re: Odd find @ Dick's Sporting Goods ...

Thanks for the heads up.

I snatched up a couple of their hardcore 65sp jerkbaits. I'm hoping they fish as well as the pin minnow.

Re: Dobyns 2018 Ultra High End Rods

No 702C or 742C? Just combine the two rods together and offer a 722. Kind of like what Daiwa does, and call it a ML/M power. I really want a finesse casting rod in this series. If they make a finesse casting rod, I will purchase one or two of them.

You read my mind. I got a 7' medium power fast action Techna AV that I wanted to turn into a BFS rod. Let us know how it turns out.

Presso on a Pixy.

Yes, I like to bring a selection of beer on my river floats. There's also a brewery at the take out point.

Re: Trout baits?

Nice pics Chris! There's nothing better than catching big brown trout in the river with light casting gear. That Conquest BFS looks classy on that rod. Here's some more inspiration LowRange. Caught these guys on a bigger suspending jerkbait. While the jerkbait was suspending, I would get to see the ...

Re: Trout baits?

I've trout fished in cold spring fed lakes, rivers/tribs, Lake Michigan, & Lake Ontario. I don't believe trout are affected by cold fronts. They get more active when the water cools down, and slow down when the water gets too warm. Not an expert on trout ponds, but I would start out with small s...
