Re: Getting into BFS - Zodias/Expride + 16 Alde BFS XG?

I see it differently, most of the presentations OP is talking about are going to end up weighing at least 3/16-1/4oz, so a modern bfs reel seems like overkill as little of it’s casting ability will be utilized. I totally agree, you do not like a super shallow Avail spool to cast 3/16-1/4oz. A Chine...

Re: Is the Senko Still King in 2020?

I tried some of the ones you mentioned and some do have good action, but then they lack in other departments. Such as the castability and salt content along with a slow fall with the Keitech. Its really hard to nail all the different aspects that made the Senko so great.

Re: Evergreen Stingray 66 - The forgotten rod

Not forgotten to everyone, i still have 4 Kaleido Designo rods in my rotation and they get most use in spring and autumn. One of then has a spiral wrap. I even have two old school Temujin Super Grand Slam rods in rotation.

Re: American Blanks...is it ever going to happen?

Well, you won't boat flip a 5lber with a same power rating rod as the AM if it was a St Croix/GLoomis right? I flip bass all the time with my expensive Evergreen rods, as long as its in the power rating. I don't see why Japanese rods cant flip or be rattled and thrown around when you would with an N...

Re: Ice Fishing Flasher Battery

Well i went ahead and did it anyways. I ended up buying a Makita usb battery dock and just drilling a small 1/4 hole on the side and soldered two lead wires going out to a 12v 5A step down. At first i was going to run the wires straight without a step down, but i check the voltage on my Fluke and it...

Re: JDM Ice rods

A high end reel doesn't have anymore parts than a mid or low end reel. I use a mid range combo and its worked well for me.

Re: old core 50 and aldebaran or new

I sold my newer Aldebaran and went back to using the old Aldebaran Mg7. I just like how the old ones palm and wasnt a fan of the more hollow feel of the newer reel. I did some mods like the rest here too, ZPI spool, Brenious gears and the usual.

Re: Ice Fishing

I have been a big fan of Reins plastic for all seasons of fishing.I have ordered some of the Daiwa Gekkabijin SW jigheads for this season as i have heard many great things about them. I got the regular one as well as the open gap version. I am also trying out the Reins scent in powder form, i bought...

Ice Fishing

New season of Ice fishing will start after Thanksgiving here in Midwest MN. I only got into Ice fishing two seasons ago and still pretty new to the hobby. I usually have my second rod with a live minnow and the main rod with a jighead and plastic or a jigging spoon. The reins PALPUNTIN in 2g-3.5g an...

Re: 2019 Shimano Vanquish; 1000SSSPG or 2000SSS?

I have the older Vanquish C200HGS Limited and nit handles line very nicely. I always use straight flouro with 4lb Sunline Shooter or Seaguar Abrasx without problem. I do have the IOS line roller mod installed.
