Re: Rod for submerged grass

Gary, thanks for the reccomendation! You have yet to steer me wrong. With your experience, what would you consider the action to be for the Valdivia? And how does the power and action compare to the orochi xx perfect pitch? Thanks! You're welcome, glad to help. It's "fast" in Megabass ter...

Re: Rod for submerged grass

That's an easy choice for me, the US Destroyer Valdiva. It's a fantastic rod for exactly what you've described. The FMJ is also outstanding and can handle the 1 oz on the upper end, but for the deeper grass and heavier weights, the Valdiva is excellent. It also won't over power the 1/2 oz stuff you'...

Re: Destroyer USA Oneten special

Bumping this thread. Has anyone had more time with the Oneten stick? Are there other potential uses for this rod? Could it handle shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, under spins, light single hook or treble swim baits, etc? Does it in fact have sensitivity for light bottom contact work? Is it as sensitiv...

Re: The Megabass Hyuga should be way more popular than what they're.

I agree with this. I've fished quite a few Hyuga models and, being at the shop, I've handled a bunch that have come through before being shipped out to customers. These rods are amazing in the $200 price point in general. They have full one piece models, two piece models, and 4 piece models, all of ...

Re: Imx pro

I have been fishing the 894 for a while, I am impressed with its sensitivity. They are leaps and bounds ahead of the previous model. I am thinking about another soon. Well stated and I agree. The IMX-PRO line is bringing the IMX name back to relevancy. I tried to like the previous generation, but g...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I'm fishing the 902s, 903c, 904c, and 905c now. I'll be putting in a lot more time over the winter and spring with them, but overall, I'm very impressed with this entire series!!

Re: Whose on top!

I have the Conquest 902s, 903c, 904c, and 905c that I'm putting in some time with over the winter. So far, I'm impressed with the rods, and look forward to spending a lot more time with them to get to know them better. I have a full season in with the 2017 US Destroyer rods by Megabass and they knoc...

Re: XX Tour Versatile

The first bait I threw on the Tour Versatile years back was a custom 3/4 oz long arm vibrating jig head with a zoom super fluke trailer. I was dragging this along in 20' to 30' and managed a few good bites. I also threw a 1 oz spinner bait in the same situation. I realized that it was a powerful, ve...

Re: Glx 842 vs 843 handle length question.

There was an early and very limited run of MBR 842's with a shorter handle than what's standard on the 2016 843 and 844. i inquired because I took my demo rod out of the first run we received at the shop and noticed the shorter handle. I was informed by a friend at Loomis that they should all be the...

Re: Reel for Diablo Spec-R

Out of 6.3 or 7.9 for the XX Diablo Spec R, I'd opt for 6.3 as I look at it as a utility rod to cover a lot of techniques. You could always drop 7:1 gears in it if you wanted to find that middle of the road between a little too fast and a little too slow. Do it yourself, or send them in to the shop,...

Re: Daiwa 2018 SV LIGHT LTD-TN

Sexiness aside, which is personal preference, the new Steez platform blows the old clean outta the water in terms of both comfort and performance. I'm not sure how anyone who had used both could argue against that. I get some folks don't care for the T wing. I was hesitant at 1st as well. Wouldn't ...

Re: XX PP for small swimbaits?

Good call on the Hyuga. Everyone has what they like and dislike, personally, it fits the bill and accomplishes the tasks very nicely for me. Regarding the XXX Destruction, it is unavailable for order at this time through The Tackle Trap. There is an issue that needs to be resolved with that specific...
