Re: Shimano Metanium mgl Brass Gears

Yes it is. The kits in stock at The Tackle Trap include the Carbontex drag stack for the upgrade. Metanium MGL Brass Gear Sets It does not have the 7.4 gear set in right game, just left hand. Yes true, I believe the pinion is on back order on the RH sets in that ratio. I wasn't sure whether you nee...

Re: TackleTour Shootout : Stella FJ vs Exist LT

Thanks, have you opened them both up to see the key differences? I plan on buying one in the future but the more info the better because the Exist is not cheap :big grin: Bryan is Exist LT certified and the chief reel tech at The Tackle Trap. It's beyond my pay grade to crack that bad boy open and ...

Re: TackleTour Shootout : Stella FJ vs Exist LT

How would you compare the Exist LT to the Certate LT? Besides the aluminum vs magnesium? I added bearings to my Certate LT so it has the exact same bearing placement as the Exist LT. Weight plays a big role... the Exist LT is pretty special because of that. The Certate LT is nice too, but it's no E...

Re: TackleTour Shootout : Stella FJ vs Exist LT

Very nice review, well done. I've done my own shoot out as well with both reels on everything from the legendary Steez AGS 76MML, Legend Elite 7'6" ML and M, Megabass Flyssa, Brigand, Addermine, X7 Simoom, NRX 852s, 872s, Conquest 902, and several others. There's no doubt the Stella is a high qualit...

Re: Orochi XX AKLYS or Destroyer Warhammer?

Depending on how heavy you're punching, the Bunker Buster is more than enough punch rod for most guys. I like it a lot more than the Warhammer unless you're going 1.5 oz and up. The Orochi XX Aklys is incredibly well balanced, but feels heavy in hand due to the butt weight. That weight is what makes...

Re: Megabass Orochi XXX Venom

I wouldn't comfortably throw a 1/2 oz on the Venom, but I'm not a fan of glass rods for vibrating jigs. It will handle the 3/8 oz fine, and maybe with braid and an affinity for glass rods for this application, I'm sure some guys could make it work with 1/2 oz. The Chimaera or the Super Orochi in th...

Re: Steez XBD SVF Discontinued?

Hi Guys, I may be outta the loop on this one, but is the 741 XBD SVF frog rod discontinued? I let my buddy use mine on my boat and when setting the hook on a fish on a different rod he knocked it in the water and it sank like a rock. I won't even mention the reel that's gone. I've been looking arou...

Re: Enthusiast/JDM rod for moving baits

Yes Sir I'm asking that its weird just because both have same rating weight and the most weighted its shorter.... It does seem odd, but I can't help with that one unfortunately. Maybe another member has the 611MH. All joking aside, that Valkyrie may appear heavy on paper, but the rod fishes like a ...

Re: Enthusiast/JDM rod for moving baits

The Megabass Valkyrie 71MH is an excellent choice for moving baits in that size range. I've used mine for spinner baits, vibrating jigs, big square bills, larger top water treble baits, buzz baits, etc. It's definitely enthusiast level stuff. Could be an error?? Re: Steez 103 R+ spool

What makes it so wild? It was originally advertised for use only by "experts" with casting gear. Claims were made that the spool can reach 30000 RPM on start up. I don't know about the spool speed, but having used the reel with the stock spool on and off for many years, I can say that it is insanel...
